“A brilliant museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

As a student, entry was free. The museum has a brilliant, modern facade and its exhibits are fantastic, intriguing and hands on. Opposite the Exhibition Hall, the Museum gives you a glimpse into early Australian settlement, Aboriginal heritage, and of course, the usual Biology and Human exhibits. The IMAX theatre located in the complex is fantastic and has a huge screen (not the world's largest as its states however), the 3D movies are reasonably priced

A great place to spend a few hours learning about the history of Melbourne. Enjoyed the design comp too. Good café too.

“needs to be more accessable to disabled people”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

My friend and I went to the Melbourne museum - and I was actually rather disappointed. There wasn't anything really exciting to feel - apart from a heap of rocks *which, lets face it are not very exciting* I would have liked braille descriptions - or at least an audio guide like a lot of museums have.

“Sweet Taxidermy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013 via mobile

Stuff I liked: the extinct Tasmanian tiger, the taxidermed horse--Phar Lap. The staff was super friendly. Sad that the aboriginal section is closed for renovation.
If you go after 4:30 you can get in for free.

Very much liked and very interested in Mind and Body - especially the Mind. Also Afghanistan: Hidden Treasures Exhibition. Not so interested in the Forest and other areas. My kids are 14 and 12.
