Lots to see and do here - the children loved it. Focuses on natural history. Good value for money. Clean and modern.

“A Visit to remember”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

A huge complex which had something for everyone from tarantulas to dinosaurs. Interactive activity for children with a short film with a story teller for older children (and adults). Could take all day here to see everything they had to offer. One large cafe and a coffee bar to split the visit up.

“A great Museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

Light filled building with amazing permanent displays. Special exhibitions are always well worth the entry fee. Better to go during the week if you can as theweekends can be very crowded.

“Amazing craftsmanship”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

The treasures of Afghanistan exhibition was an amazing education into the history of trade on the ancient Silk Road. Cultures from East to West were represented in the gold artifacts on display along with pottery and recreations of ancient cities on the trade route.

“Interesting and good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

As other reviewers have noted the entry fee is only AUS$ 10 which represents pretty good value. As with many major museums there is perhaps too much to see and fully take in on one visit, but there are eating options onsite should you wish to make a day of it. We spent about three hours here and took in the Evolution, Forest (in which some creatures such as skinks and Bower birds actually live) and Melbourne galleries as well as an exhibition of some aboriginal art. My favourite was the Melbourne Gallery which gave a good view of the history and growth of the city. The staff were helpful and friendly. I could happily have another visit at later date.
