“Excellent location to explore Melbourne”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2010

We stayed here for 2 nights in February 2010. As mentioned by others: don’t expect a view. But otherwise it is a very nice hotel in a historic building on an excellent location to explore the city. The rooms are spacious, good desk to work. Free internet access. Many restaurants in the surroundings. Walking distance to South Bank for evening dinner. A public parking garage is next door where you get a discount on parking (16 AUS dollar per 24 hrs) when your ticket has been validated by the hotel.

This hotel has one major issue, it is jammed between a car park and an office block. While most rooms have large windows, they in the majority back right onto the surrounding buildings leaving you likely never to open your curtains. We paid to upgrade to one of the rooms at the front which had a nice outlook, but there are a very limited number of these rooms. The rooms themselves are nicely fitted out and the staff were friendly. Location is also very good for central access to the city. However, for the relatively high price, a view of a car park is not great.

Stayed in this hotel for 4 nights in 2 different rooms (3 consecutive nights + 1 night a few days later after a trip to Adelaide).

Both of the rooms were very clean and quiet (which for us is very important). Staff was very helpful and nice. Nice breakfast buffet (not too much though but very tasty). Beautiful interior.

2 negative points:
1. poor view in both rooms (room 1: parking lot, room 2: wall) but you're in the middle of the city in a hotel with only a limited number of floors so

2. the second room needs a little fresh up (sun blinds didn't work, tap leaked a bit)

Overall a great experience and if we ever go back to Melbourne we go back to this hotel!

The Hotel Lindrum was very nicely decorated, helpful staff, comfortable and spacious room, right across from the free Tram stop. I didn't think the bed was very comfortable (I could feel the springs), but everything else was great. Got a good deal thru one of the cheap web sites (~$160). We liked the location for exploring Melbourne. Overall I would recommend it.

Very nice and well positioned hotel. Everything went smooth during our stay. Location is perfect and the hotel is a boutique design jewel that you don't have to loose!

The Hotel Lindrum is surrounded by great cafes and restaurants. The rooms are modern and fresh. The breakfast is as good as you can get and the staff are good.

It is the best value in Melbourne and a great boutique hotel.

My partnet and I were on a bit of a budget holiday in Melbourne and decided to have a bit more luxury on our last night in town.....perhaps we should have stayed where we were! We have stayed at Lindrum 3 times before but somehitng has definately changed! Most of the staff that seemed to be there for years are no longer around...maybe new management or owner??? The new staff are like robots, and not particualry helpful. Or room was not cleaned properly (we found a used cotton bud in the bathtub???), breakfast was just sad, and to be honest the biggest change looks like in the bar...used to have so many amazing wines on offer...now its all pretty generic hotel standard issue.... This hotel used to feel warm and friendly when you walked in, now its feels like every other big hotel.....a shame given its such a funky little place! I know owners and managers rarely care about what the average punter thinks.......but what was here was amazing....you can definately see a change in this hotel and im sorry to say not for the better. Lindrum has gone form being world class to just being another hotel......
