“Love the building, location & concept”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

This is one of the nicest places to stay in this part of Melbourne. The lobby, lounge and restaurant are gorgeous - I wish I'd had more time to just hang out there rather than having to rush off elsewhere. Rooms are elegantly decorated and breakfast was fabulous. The only "off-note" was the reception staff who seemed less than thrilled to be there. The atmosphere was more multi-chain hotel than luxury boutique. Thankfully this did not extend to other staff around the hotel who were polite and friendly and seemed genuinely happy to see me.

Dear Guest,

Firstly thank you for your feedback in relation to your recent stay. We really appreciate your comments in relation to the overall ambience of the hotel.

I am so disappointed that you found the front desk team to be less than welcoming. I take this on board and please if you would like to discuss in any more detail I am more than happy to do so.

I hope that the fact you enjoyed all other aspects will ensure that we can look forward to welcoming you back.

Best wishes,

We spent four nights at the Lindrum and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. By the second day the staff greeted us as we came and went. Our room was on the first floor (one up from reception) and had a very high ceiling. The decor was modern and a bit minimalist but very comfortable. The location alone makes the Lindrum a good choice. If you want to use the free tram that circles the downtown area there is a stop across the street. We walked most places and enjoyed the vibe of downtown Melbourne. You will enjoy your stay here.

Dear Guest,

It is a pleasure to hear that you enjoyed your four night stay with us at Hotel Lindrum.
We agree that we are in a fantastic location to get around and enjoy everything that the city has to offer. The tram stop directly outsider our door makes it even more perfect.

Thank you for your feedback.

We loved this hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. We loved the fact that you could borrow cd's or dvds to use in you room. We listened to CDs. They are going to upgrade in the next year but I thought this was a great touch. Location is perfect for Rod Laver where we saw Jesus Christ Superstar. Breakfast was great. The carpark is next door - no valet parking but it saves money :) We played billiards on their full size pool table. Had a drink at the bar where there is a gas log fire. I just loved the overall stay from the room, staff and location and will definitely be back.

My first trip to Aus. started with a quite average, by UK standards, hotel in Perth, so expectations of what the same sort of cost would bring me in Melbourne were not high. ( I hadn't heard of the "mining dollar" ! ) However on entering the Lindrum, it was immediately apparent that here was a hotel that was in a completely different, and higher league. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, yet professional. I asked for a room in a quiet location, and that was provided ( 206). Room size generous, good facilities, TV+ DVD, bathroom with deluge shower head over bath. The reception / bar area is very attractive and the continental breakfast buffet fresh and extensive ( $24 AU at time of writing). Unusual was a full size and free to use snooker table adjacent to the bar , associated with the hotels history. Location at end of Flinders near Exhibition Rd is slightly out of centre, but sits right opposite a free city circle tram route (35), which, like the free tour bus is a great way for those new to Melbourne to get around in the day. I think that the Lindrum is refreshingly different, very good and I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Room Tip: Having a room in a quiet location is important to me - so the simplest thing is to ask for this, pol...

Dear Guest,

Firstly thank you for choosing Hotel Lindrum on your first visit to Australia.
I am delighted to learn that your expectations were exceeded. We do pride ourselves on our level of service so I am glad to hear that we lived up to our promise.

Our breakfast is generally very well received so again thank you for the mention. Our hotel does have an extensive history and is named after the world champion billiard player Walter Lindrum as the building was a billiard and snooker playing establishment for a period of 15 years hence the restored billiard table and memorabilia still available to play.

We do agree with you that we are in a great position and close to all the attractions that Melbourne has to offer.

We hope to welcome you back in the future.

Best wishes,

Anne Marie Lennon

We were treated to a night at the theatre and the lindrum by friends for our engagement present. We both arrived at the Lindrum at 5.30pm on Friday night after work. Parking was a breeze in the car park right next door and my fiance came by train which is also convenient as Flinders Street station is just a 5 min walk away. Check in was quick with staff friendly and helpful. The reception and lounge area itself has a homely feel to it with log fire, billiards table and comfy seats in the seating area. Everything is also spotlessly clean and tidy. Our room was a standard double room but again very comfortable and clean. All the amenties you need (robes, toiletries, plenty of towels, tea/coffee, glasses, TV with Fox Movies). The bed was also really comfy with crisp clean sheets.

The location is perfect, close walking distance to Flinders Lane where you will find plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars. The theatre was also just a minute walk away.

Don't book here if you are expecting leisure facilities such as Fitness Suite, Pool etc... but do book here is you want to feel at home and feel looked after by attentive staff in a great location in the city.

Room Tip: Our room didn't have a view and faced the car park, however it was really quiet!

Hotel Lindrum is friendly & intimate. A lovely herbal tea at the concierge was a intro to a relaxed helpful stay. Very handy to trams & Collins Street. Doesn't have a "over the top luxury feel". Room was comfortable, fire was warm & cosy & a meal at he restaurant was yummy & reasonable value.

Dear guest,

We really appreciate your comments in relation to your stay.

I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed the food. We have recently changed our menu. It is also great to learn that you enjoyed your welcome drink of spiced herbal tea on arrival.

We like to think of our environment as aesthetic and therefore your comments regarding comfort and warm and cosy atmosphere make sense.

Thank you once again for taking the time to comment.

Just had a very enjoyable stay at the Hotel Lindrum in Flinders Street Melbourne.
Lovely, cosy, homely ambience but in a context of great professionalism by the staff.
Staff could not be more attentive and anticipated so many needs before they were spoken.
Room spacious, high ceilings. Food excellent. Can't wait to go again.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your great feedback. We really do appreciate your comments and it is fantastic to learn that you appreciated the service we offer.

We are lucky that the building does have really ‘good bones’ and therefore high ceilings and doors which does add to the character of the hotel.

We look forward to your return visit.
