“Unexpected pleasure!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2012 via mobile

Upon arriving at the Lindrum for check in we were warmly greeted on a Friday evening by a new but extremely helpful young lady. We were directed to our king room for 2 and were delighted with the high ceilings, the Natio toiletries, the king bed without a zipper in the middle and a newspaper in the morning! Staying at the Lindrum was an absolute pleasure. The only reason I didn't give them 5/5 for location was because of the construction noise nearby and the glowing lights from the neibouring carpark at night - both of which were beyond the Lindrum's control.

Thank you for the wonderfully relaxing experience.

Love the high ceilings, heaps of potential, but rooms are tired. Cheap furniture, small TV's.

Our room was located on the car park side of the hotel, but the blinds blocked the light effectively and the bed was a delight. We so enjoyed the breakfast buffet we also tried dinner. Delicious! The staff were helpful and friendly. Nice location, close to shopping and attractions.

I entirely agree with the last 2 reviews. The room was very good in that it was spacious and had good views over to the sporting venues but the windows were dirty. The room was rather masculine in decor-no mirrors except in the bathroom.
They weren't at all happy with us when we objected to paying extra for expresso at breakfast even when we were paying for a cooked breakfast which we didn't have.
Don't think I would stay here again.

I first stayed at the Lindrum a few years ago. this time I notuiced it is in need of some, fairly cosmetic, refurbishment. The owners need to walk carefully around and see things as new guests do - paintwork, varnish in need of touching up, dirty lampshades etc. Having said this, the Lindrum is a refreshing alternative to formulaic international hotels and is quite comfortable with large guest rooms and good-size bathrooms. Within easy walking distance of the main shopping and business areas and Chinatown, as well as the Olympic Park area with its sporting and entertainment facilities.

Room Tip: Ask for one not on the car park side, if that's possible.

This is a nice boutique style hotel in a city with lots of choices.
Only stayed one night in early February 2012 and was immediatley impresssed with the friendly welcome. Room - superior - was magnificient and large with high ceiling. En-suite bathroom had lots of nice touches but actually looked a little tired and could have benefitted from a deep clean around some of the edges. Only a minor point though as overall bedroom was very comfortable.

Lovely hotel with seriously big rooms, high ceilings and nice furnishings. Patterned carpet in the rooms and polished floorboards in the bathrooms. Most rooms have a chaise and/or a couple of chairs. The service is efficient and courteous without being obsequious. We stay there regularly and usually receive some nibblies in the room, eg dried or fresh fruit, biscuits or chocolates. Great location for a romantic weekend or attending the football/cricket at the MCG, but probably not so good for business travelers.

The only problems with this hotel are relatively minor. While the shower has a nice big rain head, there isn't sufficient water pressure to get a really good flow (there is an alternative high-pressure shower head that works perfectly well instead). The bed is a little soft for my liking but is perfectly fine otherwise.

Room Tip: Rooms with a view can get street and tram noise. Rooms at the back of the hotel don't have a vie...
