Awesome hotel. From the outside it doesn't look like much, but the inside is beautiful. The service is great, very friendly and helpful staff. The Buffett breakfast don't have a lot of variety for what they charge. The room service on the other hand is reasonably priced. Very convenient location. Just a 10mins walk across the bridge to Crown Casino and Docklands and DFO is also close by. Would definitely recommend and stay there again next time when in Melbourne.

Room Tip: The king suite is big enough to fit a roll out for little ones.

We stayed at ths hotel and found it to be in a good location with great staff. Rooms are very comfortable and clean and the restaurant serves up a great breakfast. There is also a bar which has an extensve whisky list with knowledgable staff.

Check out effortless and prompt,

Beautiful hotel.
Wow factor when you walk in and see the grand old building and architecture. There is history here too.

Close to CBD, Southbank, galleries, sporting venues, casino.
Best of all, many great restaurants and bars.

Quality hotel and all available facilities.
Also go next door to the bar, 55 stories up at Vue de Monde.

Room Tip: Select a King room, stayed a few times and all of the rooms are top quality

Every time I stay at this hotel I am greeted with a service standard that is second to none - it's a pleasurable experience as soon as you step foot inside. A rejuvenated old building, the hotel offers all the modern day luxuries you could want, and I'm always assured of a great nights sleep at the InterContinental ... thanks again for a great stay!

We booked a high tea at The Rialto as part of my Mum's 70th birthday celebrations, and had the most delightful time. The staff were attentive and sweet, and the tea itself was delicious and beautifully presented, not to mention good value. Tea is served in the Market Lane Bar, which is well situated on the Collins Street entry level of this beautiful old building.

As it happened, during this visit to Melbourne, the city was going through a record-breaking heat wave, and my partner became quite unwell, so we decided to spend our last night in the city in a hotel. Having had such a pleasant experience there just a day before, we chose to stay at the Rialto. We couldn't have made a better decision! The staff bent over backwards to ensure a fast, early check in, and had us in our beautifully air-conditioned room in no time at all. Valet parking was quick and trouble-free, room service was fast and delicious, and the bedding SO comfortable. Complimentary toiletries were of the highest quality, and the rain-fall shower just awesome. The mini bar selection was a cut above the usual fare, with real choice and quality products. The Ronnefeldt teas (which we had enjoyed so much at the high tea) freely available in the room were a delightful touch :)

All in all, we can't wait to return for another stay. Thank you!

We stayed 4 nights and found the hotel to be well appointed and located
As others have said its a large hotel with a boutique feel in beautiful building
The most notable difference between this hotel and many others is the friendly front of house staff which is apparent as soon as you pass through the front doors and did not falter during our stay the pinnacle of this service being the concierge services headed by the very impressive Mr James Ridenour who not only gave us invaluable tips to enhance our stay but also saved a very annoying birthday dinner cancelation made at short notice by another establishment demonstrating his impeccable knowledge and contacts and all with a smile
The only criticism of this hotel was the evening dining experience in the hotels Restuarant which was an average experience both from a food and service perspective and doesn't quite live up to the expectations you might expect however there are many other options for dining - just ask James and his team

The hotel is surrounded by office blocks but a short walk from the main shopping area and there is public transport in the immediate area so getting round the city without a car is easy. However there is need to buy a card to be able to use any tram, bus, etc., (with the exception of the tram that circles round the central district). Southern Cross station, for those arriving on interstate trains, is easily reached on foot.

Our check was smooth and we took up the offer of the use of the Club Lounge for a reasonable price. Our room was on the small side but perfectly adequate. There was no bath but the shower was excellent. Everything in the room was as it should be.

The Club Lounge is quite small. At breakfast the tables proved to be a little on the small side but the service was attentive and friendly.

The restaurant appeared to be deserted in the evening so we did not use it.

We have now realised just how poor many concierges are as at this Intercontinental they are outstandingly helpful. From bottles of water to take out on expeditions to help with the use of trams to advice on where to go, nothing was to much trouble.

Celebrated as one of the world’s hottest and best new hotels by both Conde Nast Traveler and Wallpaper* magazines, InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto is a fascinating example of the city’s fusion of old and new. InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto represents the resurrection of one of the city’s last remaining examples of 19th Century Victorian Gothic architecture into a timeless and inspiring luxury hotel. Its city centre location on Collins Street is at the heart of the laneways, attractions and experiences that give Melbourne its international appeal. Behind the Gothic façade is a sleek yet intimate hotel that is home to two very different bars – the Bluestone Wine Lounge and the Market Lane Bar – and a variety of dining establishments, including Alluvial Restaurant and Guy Grossi’s exciting new venture, Merchant. InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto has also teamed up with Shannon Bennett, providing valet parking for his new Vue de monde restaurant on the 55th floor of the adjacent Rialto building. InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto’s warmth and exceptional service belies its size, with more than 250 guest rooms across two soaring wings, including a stunning collection of suites as well as the exclusive Club InterContinental lounge and facilities for premium guests. The hotel’s rooftop is also a destination itself, home to the kitchen’s own market garden and beehives, the Scandinavian-inspired swimming pool and the glass-encased fitness centre overlooking the Melbourne cityscape. Also available is the luxurious candle-lit East Day Spa offering east-meets-west treatments and therapies. Before guests arrive, they can take advantage of the concierges’ passion and Insider knowledge of the city.
