“Great location, great service, great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

I just spend the last 3 night at this Grand Hyatt in Melbourne and that is my preferred choice in Melbourne as the location is great easy to walk around to plenty of places. The service is very good and the staff is excellent. The breakfast buffet in the gigantic opened kitchen is very nice.
The room are very well appointed and spotless. My "only" negative comment is the TV lineup needs more international selection. If you need to be there for business or pleasure great hotel.
Yes not the cheapest one in town but you pay for what you get.

Room Tip: overall the few times I stayed the rooms are quite for you need to be above floor 15th if you want s...

Dear J-P D
We love hearing that Grand Hyatt is your preferred hotel here in Melbourne. We are very fortunate to have such committed staff that go that extra mile to take care of our guests and keep them coming back. And we have to agree, our Collins Kitchen breakfast is an event not to be missed!
We do apologise that our TV line up was not to your satisfaction and will flag feedback with our team.

We booked this hotel as a suprise hotel on last minute.com, it was easy to work out that it was going to be the Grand Hyatt. Despite us booking at a discount, we were treated like royalty. I mentioned that it was our tenth wedding anniversary, and subsequently were upgraded to a room with a beautiful view of the Yarra, south bank, the tennis centre and MCG. The room was perfect, gorgeous big bed, couch area to relax and gaze at the view, bathroom divine, all marble and lovely quality toiletries. The room was cleaned and made up beautifully each day, all toiletries replaced, as well as complimentary bottled water each day.
The location in Collins St is perfect. Walking distance to many fabulous restaurants, shops, free tram etc.
About the only bump in the road was the concierge, who was new apparently, wasn't really the efficient and knowledgable 'go-to' man that you would expect for a 5 star hotel in a major city like Melbourne, but maybe he just needs a few weeks to get his head together in that role.
I would definitely stay at the Grand Hyatt again.

Room Tip: Ask for room with view over the river/Southbank

Dear mattandness

Firstly happy 10th Wedding Anniversary and we are thrilled you were happy with your surprise accommodation and received a lovely upgrade to celebrate the occasion. Our staff try their very best to offer each guest an individual 5 star experience in our hotel and treat them like ‘royalty’.
Due to our central location we train our concierges in all things Melbourne however we are sorry you did not receive this complete service during your stay with us.
Please do approach the concierge on your next stay and I am sure they will offer some wonderful guidance to exploring Melbourne. Once again, Happy Anniversary!

Don't look anywhere else, this is the best place to stay. (My friends all stayed at the Intercontinental Rialto and were disappointed with service issues)

The beautiful lobby makes a great first impression. We were served by Aaron the desk manager and were given a 4pm complimentary checkout (perhaps because of our Gold Passport status). We were very impressed that our room was ready at 9:30am. Great job, Hyatt!

The room was lovely, great view of the city. The room was clean, modern, renovated. Great toiletries. Great maid service. Comfortable beds, doonas, pillows.

The location could not be beat. We spent almost 3 hours in the lobby outside the restaurant (Collins Kitchen), ordering meals, drinks and snacks and reading the newspapers while waiting for our drive to the airport. We were offered exemplary service. They never rushed us. They were attentive but not intrusive. Professional service with a smile.

The Grand Hyatt should be very proud of its staff and product.

There is one downside - the lack of free onsite parking or a special package for guests (eg. $15 flat rate). There is valet parking available but it's cost prohibitive.

Dear AshfromBrisbane
We are glad you chose to venture away from the other end of the city and stay with us here at Grand Hyatt. With fabulous staff members like Aaron going above and beyond, it’s great to see the positive impact they make. We’re glad that you made use of our lobby whist waiting to depart. It really is an open and warm communal space to be enjoyed by our guests.
As for parking, due to our central location we do not have a hotel owned car park instead we direct guests to use Wilson’s parking on our door step.
We hope to see you again soon.

From the time your enter the lobby you are treated so well by their very helpful staff.
The rooms are high quality with all the best furnishings.Everything in Melbourne city is in handy walking distance including lots of good restaurants - not that you need any as the hotel restaurant is very good.
Our 3 nights was a most lovely stay and we will return one day to this same hotel.

Dear pat h
Thank you for your review. We are very proud of our staff and the level of commitment they give to making every guest’s experience, 5 star. We are lucky to be located right next door to many of Melbourne premier restaurants and hidden laneway bars. We hope you had the chance to try the Collins Kitchen’s indulgent buffet breakfast which is undoubtedly one of the best in Melbourne (however we are a little biased)! We hope you choose to stay with us again when you’re next in Melbourne.

I recently stayed in a club room at Hyatt Melbourne. The room itself is modernised and clean, the bathroom impeccable with good soap/amenities to use, good modern aircon system, and the usual excellent Hyatt front desk check in team. The lobby area and so forth is modern, large and chic - really cool. Oh, and the gym at this place is awesome. (If interested, compare this review with my recent review of Hyatt Perth - worlds apart! And this Hyatt is cheaper!!). I travel a lot for work, for me the hotel is a bit of a 'refuge' at the end of the day, and places that get it right deserve to be celebrated IMO. I enjoyed staying here, and felt the value was excellent. H.

Room Tip: Get a club room. Worth the few extra $$.

We recently stayed in the Ambassador Suite at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. From the beginning to the end of our stay at the Grand Hyatt we were treated with the utmost courtesy and professionalism. We dropped our car at the Valet and were welcomed with a big smile from George. We were next heartily greeted by Mona at Reception who personally showed us to the Grand Club Lounge on the 31st floor where we promptly checked in by Grant and warmly welcomed by the Lounge Manager, Emmanuel.
Our suite was beautiful and had the added surprise of a bottle of Chandon bubbles accompanied by a "Happy Birthday" Bailey's cheesecake awaiting us. We then also received a welcoming note with strawberries and chocolate from the General Manager, Mr I Weill - this attention to detail was much appreciated.
We had a quick workout and swim in the amazingly large gym downstairs and then spent the early part of the evening enjoying canapes and complimentary drinks in the Grand Club Lounge. We were extremely well attended by John, Rowena and Danica throughout our time in the Lounge.
The comfy bed and sumptuous pillows accompanied by the block out curtains and no noise made for a great night's slumber in this beautiful suite.
After a delicious breakfast at the Collins Kitchen we departed the Grand Hyatt already eagerly anticipating our next opportunity to stay there!

This would be our 5th stay at the Grand Hyatt,we stayed 3nights this time around. From the time you are welcomed by the doorman on arrivalto the time when you settle your account when you are leaving, you feel that your stay is appreciated, you can't give higher praise.

If you had to have choose a hotel as a substitute for your home, the Grand Hyatt would be my choice.

Highly recommended
