Had 2 rooms via Wotif mystery for 1 night on a stop over. We were very glad we did, as it was wonderful. All from the Valet parking to the perfect location in the city to the great rooms and facilities. Really liked the spa & steam room as well. Would definitely stay there again.

My partner had booked the Romance package so we got bubbles on arrival, valet parking - it was a long 2.5 km drive from Fitzroy of course we had a full breakfast on offer but of course we only realized that bit later. Which was perfectly fine as I prefer a good view on the 31 st floor to eggs on level 2 anytime. We loved the Grand Club Lounge and if we had thought it through we may have spent more time eating in there than going out. Great service and next time we may even get to the pool and spa. We had a suite overlooking the Yarra river from the MCG to the Docklands and spent a lot of time just enjoying it.

This was our third stay at the Grand Hyatt in the past 10 months. We love the location, service and just chilling out there.
This time however there were a few issues that were quite dissapointing as it wasn't the usual experience we'ver come to expect.
We arrived around midday and left our car and bag with the valet, and walked down the laneways for something to eat. Check in was fine and I asked about our bag, and the man advised that it would be already in our room. It wasn't and that was fine so we gave front desk a call 20 mins later to advise it still hadn't been brought up and they apolagised and advised that they would contact the bell desk. An hour later we still hadn't heard a thing so I called the bell desk to ask, and then advised that they would look into it. 20 mins later they called back to apolagise that our bag was taken to another guests room and that there was a mix up! The gentleman I spoke to was very sorry and said he would send up a complimentry bottle of sparkling (which I was happy with!) 10 mins later, bag arrives but with a tennis racket as well! Advise them that it's not our racket!
An hour passes and our bottle of sparkling hasn't arrived so we turn on the pricvacy light (as we thought they had forgotten!), have showers and a sleep. Phone rings whilst in shower, message left to say that room service tried to deliver the sparkling. I call back and am advised that they will bring it up. 20 mins later, no sparkling, had enough of waiting, and really since we didn't pay for it could really care and we needed to go and line up for Mamasita. Call room service, the lady I spoke to was quite rude and had no phone manner. I don't understand why the long wait on everything? From our bags, to then a bottle of sparking?
Had pre dinner drinks at Ru Co which we usually love, but again the service was not up to scratch. It took 20 mins from someone to come over to ask us if we wanted a drink!
The breakfast as usual was fantastic, drinks were a little slow coming out but all the food was wonderful!
I called up the front desk to confirm that we had a late check out and found the lady quite rude in tone.
We will stay again as we do love the hotel, just really suprised with the (lack of) service this time around.

Room Tip: Ask for a city view room and a higher floor

Dear JRELG,

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. We would have to agree, Grand Hyatt Melbourne is in a perfect location to enjoy everything Melbourne has to offer – shopping, theatre, relaxing in one of Melbourne’s great bars or grabbing a bite to eat in a good restaurant, it is all just a short stroll away. We’re disappointed to hear that poor service spoilt your recent stay with us – we assure you that it is certainly not indicative of our usual high standards. We have raised the service issues you experienced with both our Food and Beverage Management team, and also our Rooms Division Management team to address with appropriate training. We hope that you do choose to stay with us again, and provide us with an opportunity to exceed your expectations.

We booked two rooms at this hotel through Wotif as a mystery deal, so got a fantastic price for the rooms, and it turned out this is just the beginning of a wonderful weekend for us. We arrived at the hotel around 2.30 and the gentleman (Ji Soong Kim, we made a point of getting his name for his fantastic service) at check-in kindly apologised that the room is not yet ready, because we had two 3-year-olds with us, he kindly offered us a drink at the bistro while we waited for the rooms, what great service, we were instantly impressed! When our rooms were finally ready, Mr Kim also offered us a complimentry breakfast and late checkout, can I just say that I have stayed in five-star hotels and resorts world over, this is the level of service that is rarely seen! These sort of services does not cost the hotel a great deal, but it means a great deal to the customer, this is how hospitality industries should be run! Even though we were inconvenienced by the late check-in, through Mr Kim's great service and smart thinking, we felt we were treated like VIPs.
After we got to our rooms, we were even more impressed by the room size, layout and view. It had a L-shaped sofa instead of a desk and chair, which is perfect for a family on holidays. We were also impressed with the attention to detail throughout the room, it was just a very comfortable, spacious and relaxing room.

We stayed at The Langham only a few weeks ago for a weekend in the city, even though this site raves about it, the level of service is no where near that of the Grand Hyatt. The check-in staff and room layout and decor at the Langham can definitely learn a few things from tthe Grand Hyatt.

We loved the location of the Grand Hyatt too, we will definitely be back again, thanks to all the staff at the hotel for a wonderful weekend!

Dear AnnieMelb,
Staying in a 5-star hotel Experiencing great 5 star service, and exceeding customer expectations is what we strive for with all our guests staying at Grand Hyatt Melbourne. We are proud to hear that Ji Soong Kim went above and beyond in making sure your stay with us was all that you expected, and more. I have brought this to the attention of our Front Office manager, to ensure that Ji Soong Kim is recognized for his exceptional service. When we refurbished all our guest rooms, we put a lot of thought into the little touches of luxury with guest comfort at the forefront of the design. It is wonderful to hear that you had a very comfortable stay and were able to relax and enjoy your stay with us– we hope to welcome you back soon!

Our booking through Qantas was keenly priced including breakfast and parking. Unfortunately on check in there was no record so we cooled our heels for a few anxious minutes. Eventually it was "sorted" and we received an "upgrade" to corner city view and not the requested river view. Never mind - the room was excellent as the refurbishment is complete. Staff were unfailingly polite but I felt like I spent the entire time forwarding our reservation record and clarifying the package. Felt like a bit of a prat arguing about the complimentary bottle of wine, and I still had to point out that our bill was wrong at the end of the stay. If one person had followed up on an issue when it arose it would have saved so much hassle and this distracted from an otherwise pleasant stay, The breakfast was excellent but there was huge queue on the Sunday morning. The hotel location is perfect, and the beds are very comfortable. There are issues with noise from the corridors which betray the age of the building but overall we enjoyed it and will return.

Dear shortblack,
Grand Hyatt Melbourne is perfectly poised in the heart of the city to explore the magic of Melbourne, and the beds are so comfortable that we even sell them online due to popular demand! However it’s disappointing to hear that your check-in and check-out experiences were somewhat problematic. We have raised the matter with our Front Office manager for further review, to ensure such instances do not reoccur. Despite this, we’re glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay overall and will be back again soon.

Our first impression of the Grand Hyatt was the wonderfully friendly porter who assisted us with our bags and vehicle.
The reception staff were also fantastic, sorting out an issue with what we thought was a prepaid account as a gift, and offered complimentary sparkling as an apology.
The room, overlooking some wonderful old (and new) building in the CBD allowed us to chill out on the comfy couch watching the sunset, enjoying the sparkling wine.
The bathroom is spectacular with deep bath and huge shower.
The gym is exceptionally equipped and the breakfast ... WOW I was in heaven!
The only criticism I have is that there were dirty and wet towels in the wardrobe and greasy marks on the bed head.
Apart from these small housekeeping issues, we can't wait to go back next month!

Dear skime,
Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. There’s nothing better than being perched on the chaise lounge overlooking the majestic Melbourne city skyline, whilst sipping on a glass of sparkling! Only to be followed by a truly decadent breakfast in Collins Kitchen the next morning. However, on another note, we’re sorry to hear that our Housekeeping was not up to scratch – this is certainly not indicative of our 5-star standards. We have raised this issue with our Director of Housekeeping for review, but are looking forward to welcoming you back when you next stay at Grand Hyatt Melbourne.

We stayed here for three nights as a treat around our wedding day, one night prior and two nights after the big day.

We loved our stay here and felt like royalty as soon as we arrived. The service is second to none.

We received a complimentary room upgrade and bottle of sparkling wine as a gift for our wedding which was really thoughtful.

The rooms are great, very well clean, well appointed and may well be the best room I have stayed in yet.

The rooms are also great for having make up done in (so I am told) with plenty of light and large mirrors.

We hope we can stay here again one day.
