We stayed on the sixth floor of the ten story hotel in a room overlooking Flinders Lane as a member of the Accor Vacation Club. Despite being in the heart of Melbourne we found it to be very quiet. The room was very modern with very nice bathroom and a workable kitchen although missing an oven. We found the staff to be very helpful. A bar is open in the evenings at the back of the building on the ground floor which has a great free coffee machine.
There is no restaurant, however a Coles supermarket is just around the corner along with a vast supply of eateries from KFC and Mexican to Pizza and the more top-of-the-line restaurants if you want to splash out a bit more cash.
To get your bearings of Melbourne, catch the number 35 tram from Flinders Street one block away (outside the station). It does a loop of the City Centre and you can get on or off at your leisure.

Room Tip: Wi-fi was very expensive so it's best to try to stick to the free half hour per day policy that...

We spent three nights here in a double apartment with our adult children. We all absolutely loved it. The decore and furnishings were beautiful. It had all the modern conveniences including a great gourmet kitchen and dining area. The location of this hotel is just perfect, within walking distance to retail outlets, cafes, restaurants, information centre and trams. Can't wait to go back again. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Right in the hub of the lane ways of Melbourne's CBD is a treasure of hideaway. We stayed in a one bedroom Apartment on the 9th floor, beautifully decorated in lush fabrics and gorgeous furniture, there was a little foyer that opened onto a dining room with a fully kitted out little kitchen with banquette seating. Lounge area had a flat screen tele and a writting desk again beautifully appointed with leather and carpets and lush window treatments. But the killer was the bedroom with the ceiling high bed head and king size bed, another flat screen tele and an adjoining dressing room and large ensuite. Reception staff were charming and called up and inquired as to our happiness with the apt ( how nice?) we were also allowed early checkin ( 10.00 am... again how nice?) We are absolutely going to be coming back, loved it! Why would you settle on a room if you can have all this?

Room Tip: No complaints...apartment was perfect!

I stayed here for 4 nights & couldn't complain about a single thing! Gorgeous rooms, fabulous location, very helpful staff & stunning hotel. I had a 1 bed suite which was the most beautiful suite I have ever had. It had great cooking facilities, huge lounge area with queen size pull out couch & the seperate king size master suite with walk through robe & oversized bathroom was just to die for. I could walk absolutely every where but could also get a tram very close by if needed or a very short walk to Flinders st train station. Would recommend this hotel to anyone & everyone.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Sebel Melbourne Flinders Lane was completely refurbished in September 2011, when it celebrated its 90th anniversary. The refurbishment design philosophy drew inspiration from the early "fashion house" days with a view of creating an expression of sophisticated elegance, through an individual design concept that would remain unique to The Sebel Melbourne Flinders Lane. The result has turned this "all suite" apartment building into a market leading boutique hotel. Presented is a contemporary range of sophisticated one bedroom suites that infuse modern design philosophies with the architectural and historical heritage of the building. Archival Melbourne scenes are displayed in the black and white artwork that adorn the corridors, evolving into a celebration of Melbourne’s modern icons throughout the suites. With the retention of the original detailed cornice and architraves, blended with contemporary designer furniture and fittings and modern state of the art appliances, the change is exceptional. The sophisticated colour palette is the key design element, from charcoal European bathroom tiles, contrasted by the white, chrome and glass designer fixtures to the use of dark veneers, stainless steel, leather and stone throughout the design.New Guest Features include Lounge 321 located on the ground floor of the hotel, which provides guests with complimentary internet access, newspapers, magazines, games, business and entertainment TV channels. The Courtyard is a European inspired inner city escape that provides guests with an intimate courtyard garden to share a drink with friends or to simply relax and escape the hustle and bustle of the city. While the days of fashion are well in the past at 321 Flinders Lane, those looking for a fashion experience will not be disappointed with The Sebel Melbourne’s Flinders Lane location. Ideally located between Elizabeth and Queen Street, it is in close proximity to Melbourne’s shopping, and entertainment district with the added benefit of having Melbourne’s famous cafe culture and the iconic Flinders Street Station right around the corner. ... more   less
