“Overpriced!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

From the bottle of water at $8.95 for 1.5 litres to the expensive internet and breakfast at $25 per person. There was no information in the room as to the cost of the food and drinks in the bar fridge and we could not find any information on the TV.

We stayed three nights. The housekeeping on the Sunday was disgraceful!! There was dirty linen left on the floor in the bathroom behind the door. The tea and coffee had not been replenished, there was no new milk. The bed looked like it took ten seconds to make. Very disappointing!!

The only reason we stayed here is because we attended a conference. Melbourne has too many hotels with better locations. We would only stay here for the Grand Prix or if we were attending another conference.

Stayed at the hotel for four nights and have no complaints. The checkin and service throughout the stay was very good and staff were very helpful. The breakfasts are buffet style and cover most tastes and the times are good as well, you can have breakfast up to 1030. The room was fairly basic but clean, tidy and had everything you really needed for the stay. Broadband internet available at a cost but you can take a choice of packages. The 3 day $39 package was okay with around 100mb download, enough for checking email etc. If you have an ipad then you can pick up WiFi in the lobby and around the bar areas. Yep, overall a good stay with access to the trams nearby into the city and Albert Park and lake just across the road.
I picked up a special 4 day offer at this hotel paying only around $430 for the four days so really for that amount in the city of Melbourne, what is there to complain about!

The hotel gave great service, had great public areas including good coffee, but despite having maintenance attend could not get the air conditioning working to match the 38 degrees Melbourne day and the air conditioning is so basic it has no air speed control.

Also very loud water hammers at times...

Room Tip: Keep to south side rooms in summer.

Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay with us. The load on the air conditioners over that hot day was greater than anticipated; as a result the hotel is currently reviewing all air conditioners for the summer period.

Once again thank you for your feedback, and we hope to see you back at the hotel.

I've stayed at the Sebel - Albert Park a few times over the years. I've got to say when I Ist went there it was pretty average however the last few times have been a pleasant surprise!
My understanding is that this motel is now part of a different hotel chain and the difference is very noticeable. The rooms are very nice, roomy and comfortable with good housekeeping. The big difference is in the staff - so pleasant, very friendly and very professional. Everywhere you go you are greeted with broad smiles, über polite and very helpful without the pretentiousness you can experience in some motels. One annoyance - the air conditioner is preset at 24 degrees and despite having in room adjustment always bounces straight back to 24 - when its 40 degrees outside it would be nice to cool off!
WIFI has good coverage and was around $30 for 3 days.
Room service is ok - bit limited in choice and expensive -$30 for 4 small slices of lamb and some salad. Breakfast is typical hotel fare but they have one of those DREADFUL automatic coffee machines - makes truly horrible coffee. Please get a barista involved!!!
Nice location opposite Albert Park - do yourself a favour and spend an hour walking around the lake - very nice!

Room Tip: Go or lake side in the sebel end (not the citigate end)

Used this hotel as I was attending a conference there. Great bed and catering throughout conference was excellent.
Need to get a tram or taxi to the city centre.
Only bad things: make wifi free like they do in Europe and Asia (at least in foyer area) and don't charge ridiculous prices for bottled water. Of course I always take my own!

I first stayed at this hotel when running a conference there 5 years ago. Since then we have been back to run many other events and conferences and it has now become our hotel of choice when staying in Melbourne for business or leisure.
The staff are fantatsic. They are friendly, professional, knowledgable and with many having been there for several years they make your return visits feel very welcome.
I have found the quality of food to be great and whilst the rooms are getting a bit older in style they have always been clean and are well appointed. One of the other benefits is the location. Just far enough out of the city to avoiod the hustle and bustle but close enough to be convenient. Havin g the Park as an outlook and a walking track is just an added bonus.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor room facing the park. The views are fatastic

Stayed in the Citigate Loft Suite. Two storeys with lounge area downstairs. A good sized apartment for our family to relax in. Kids competing in athletics at Albert Park. King Size bed upstairs, fold out double sofa bed downstairs. Quite modern and very clean. Upstairs bathroom was very modern with toilet separate to the bathroom. Half of this hotel complex is renovated and mostly features in their on line pictures. The Loft apartment is in the older section. However, I was very satisfied with the decor and amenities. Parking fees can sting you. Just park the car and take the trams. Easy commuting along St Kilda Rd. Lifts can take some time to get down. Overall, I was very impressed. Everything at your disposal. Swimming pool, gym, restaurants and room service. Easy walk to cafes and the beach. Will stay again and would recommend. Reception staff are extremely profeesional and eager to assist.
