“Good experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

My husband and I have just returned from a three night stay in Bayview on the Park. Great location, minutes on tram from the City and the beach!! Although the rooms would benefit from upgrading, our premier room was quiet and had superb space, comfortable bed; bathroom was functional but sadly neglected; staff are polite and very helpful; we only ate in the hotel once and found the food disappointing. Allthough some of my comments may seem negative, they are only comments, we would certainly stay again.

Room Tip: Premier room had all the facilities needed for a short trip. A higher room will provide a better vie...

I stayed with my 16 year old neice. We had a premier room overlooking the lake. The room was comfortable and clean. We both enjoyed our stay, next time we will both take our bathers as the pool looked very inviting. We were able to leave our car at the hotel after checking out, the staff were very friendly. Its close to public transport and was very quiet.

Room Tip: Pay the bit extra for the premier room

I enjoyed my stay here very much , rooms were a little dated but they did the job. And found the price reasonable .

I dined for dinner in the restraunt whilst here . I quite possibly had the best service from a man called Kamlesh . He is very efficient and friendly . He was attentive And very very good at his job . And his beautiful French accent and personality made the dining experience very enjoyable . Defiantly a valued member of staff ! .

Stayed for 4 days in Jan 2013. Room very small and borderline clean. Air conditioning not obvious but at least it worked. Prices jumped 50$ extra the last 2 nights because hotel was becoming full for the Tennis Australian Open. Wireless internet did not work after we paid 18$/day for it - but with a cord we managed to have internet... unpleasant. Pool looked nice unfortunately did not have time to enjoy. The bell boy was very useful for various information! Proximity to beautiful Albert Park and close to Alfred Hospital for those looking for that.

The premier rooms are very large but the furnishings pretty basic. Checking-in can be very slow if you happen to arrive just behind a tour group and the sole lift (the other one was out of order) was painfully slow. The shower is not fancy but good and this more or less captures our stay in the Bayview. This is not a 4-star hotel as advertised, possibly 3-star, but if you get a deal (we paid $92 per night) it is well worth it. Otherwise go for Parkview hotel just around the corner for a flashier experience.

The room was very run down. Blankets had many holes, tv was a tiny non flat screen and yet they wanted $20 for an inhouse movie. Pool said it was heated but was freezing. Staff at the front desk ignored me and served other customers around me. Walls seemed thin. No money seemed to have been spent for a long time.

I stayed here for 6 days in Nov, 2012 with excellent experience for first 5 days and rather poor experience on the last day and this was only because of the change in room.
They have some excellent rooms right opposite Albert Park which provides for a lovely view of golf course, lake with several black swans and generally a good feel.
Then there are certain rooms which are on the other side, tiny ghetto like rooms with view of the parking lot. While taking a room here, just see the room beforehand so that you have a good experience. Price differential between the two kinds was hardly $20 or so.
Their restaurant was always full so I couldnt really try it. There are some decent eateries nearby- excellent Salad bar on St Kilda and some nice cafes nearby- Cafe Promenade etc.

Room Tip: Try getting a room facing Albert park
