“Excellent location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

We have stayed at this hotel numerous times over a number of years. The location is excellent with public transport at the door. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant is reasonably priced although, other than several daily specials, the menu does not change. The rooms need a good makeover and a thorough clean. Whilst appearing clean on arrival with a need to locate a powerpoint and pulling the bedside table and bed away from the wall the dust and fluff behind them was very thick and obviously had not been cleaned in a long time.

We were in Melbourne for the Flower show. Excellent location, within walking distance to lots of attractions. Staff very helpful. Rooms are on the small size and bathroom could do with a refurb. Overall experience was very good - would stay again.

Location, locaton, location. This Hotel is within easy walking distance of many highlights of Melbourne and so easy to catch trams to other places further afield. Whilst the room was quite small, it was well serviced and clean and from the 12th floor had great views. Soul cafe has great coffee and snacks whilst the restaurant was adequate.

I only stayed 1 night this time around, but will take advantage of Melbourne's various attractions next time around.
My short stay @ the hotel was excellent, upon arrival I had no agenda planned barring checking in. Mathew (the concierge) could not have been more friendly & helpful to me, he drew me a map of how to walk to the International Garden & Flower Show (which was fantastic), the Princess Theater (to see the Jersey Boys), & Longrain Restaurant for a wonderful dinner where I met new friends & the staff were friendly & most helpful.

When I returned from my evening out I met the Night Manager Sam (Salvatore) who could not have been more friendly & helpful to me when I asked him if he possibly had a spare phone charger (I left mine in Sydney). Even though the computer system had broken down that night Sam was polite , keen to help & please beyond the call of duty, kudos to him.
I will return to this accommodation because of the professional staff working there, & the central location close to the theater district & shopping etc.

Stayed here for three nights and really enjoyed the excellent location of this hotel...it is in the middle of everything !! We walked everywhere and caught the free tram around to the factory outlets.
Rooms were nicely laid out and very clean. Unfortunately there is not much of a view
( looks over other hotels) but how long do you spend in your room staring out the window !
Asked the staff for help with directions and locations on a number of occasions and they were extremely helpful and willing. Breakfast was good value at $16.50 and good choice of food. My only one complaint is that you can hear toilets/showers of other rooms - but I'm not sure how the hotel could fix this. But don't let this put you off staying here ...we had a great time here and would definitely stay here again when we return to Melbourne

Loved our stay, rooms lovely and clean. Staff extraordinarily helpful and friendly. $16.50 breakfast buffet a great add on. Central location ...right in Chinatown if that's what you want.
Only down side, the walls in the rooms have very poor insulation, showers and neighbours doors will keep the light sleepers awake...so bring your ear plugs.

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is located right next to Chinatown and is central to so many Melbourne destinations. The rooms are small but completely adequate. Lots of hot water and shower pressure, iron and board. I had the most exceptionally quiet stay, but I can see that this is entirely dependent on who your neighbors are. The doors to the rooms are very loud, and the walls are thin, you hear other toilets flush and showers run, but these were just minor annoyances. I was fortunate to snag a quiet stay and so I have no complaints. I will gladly stay here again. The best thing?: the bar downstairs, the cocoon, is probably the coziest hotel space I have ever inhabited.
