“Wont be staying again”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

Paid for a "supreme queen room" and got a dodgy tiny room that backed right onto the lifts ... rang reception to check they allocated correct room and it was, none left to swap into. noisy, filthy stained carpets, NO MINIBAR, a view out window of brick wall ... wont be staying again.

“A good choice if you're not spending a lot of time in the room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

The rooms were old and aging. In terms of the infrastructure, there's nothing spectacular about the hotel. Nonetheless the air-cond was nice and chilly, beds were comfortable and the location was fairly central. Although parking is a down-right hassle.

The staff are all friendly and helpful, and are a redeeming point for the hotel. Without the effort and attention of the staff and housekeeping, I'd be suspect of the quality of the room.

Overall, if you're in the city for business or plan to be out for the entire day, the hotel is functional and practical for you to rest.

“Mercure Welcome Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

We didn't realise when we booked that we were staying in the poor version of the hotel. I thought it was all one hotel but it appears the Mercure and the Mercure Welcome are two very different things. While the rooms were clean, the carpet was quite dirty and the bathroom very basic. I thought it was extremely overpriced for what we got, but in saying that it was the weekend of the Grand Prix. The location of the hotel was fantastic, walking distance to shops and Southbank. If your looking for a bed with no frills and can get it for a cheaper price than $289 this is the hotel for you.

“Pretty expensive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

I have never been to Melbourne before, so I thought it pretty expensive for a very small room looking out on to an alleyway. That said, the bed was comfortable, breakfast average, and the staff pleasant and helpful

“great value for a great location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

I constantly visit Melbourne for concerts that are on in the city. Mercure Welcome has a great central location for business in the CBD and exceptional prices. Staff are friendly and very helpful and accommodating. Rooms are a little on the small-side, but perfectly adequate for someone like myself. I always stay there when i visit Melbourne city.
