“Great value, location and staff.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

I stayed in the Crossley in September with my husband and 2yo son for 4 nights. We upgraded our package to a larger room and were extremely impressed with the size of the room. It comfortably held a king size bed, cot, lounge suite, entertainment unit, cupboards and a kitchenette (which was essential travelling with a toddler) and still plenty of room to move around.
We were pleased to be provided with a cot with bedding at no charge, and my parents had booked into the hotel under a separate booking but the hotel put us all on the same floor without asking. That is the kind of small detail which impressed us.
The Management and Owners of the hotel should take note that their staff are truly the best asset of the hotel. They were always polite and extremely helpful, offering to carry bags (and prams!) up the front steps for you. anything you asked, they could help you with!
The hotel is quite compact and a bit dark, but it's tucked in the CBD in the most awesome location, right in the heart of chinatown! We were very pleased the location.
It can get a touch noisy in the early mornings with the sound of garbage trucks, but apart from that, the bed was amazingly comfortable and I adored the fresh clean sheets daily. The block out blinds were out of this world. Our son required a day sleep and we just shut the blinds in the middle of the day and you would have thought it was midnight. This was also helpful at night when the 'Gingerboy' sign lit up in the alley adjacent our room (a bright red neon sign which I found quite endearing).
The bathroom was slightly dated and very small for the size of the room, with no bath. My parents had a standard room and had a bath?
I was very happy with my stay and would definately recommend. thanks to the lovely concierge staff at The Crossley.

I would highly recommend the Crossley for its position and excellent standard of rooms, very clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly. They took care of parking the car and it was waiting at the door for us as we were checking out. We had booked three rooms for six guests in total and we were all on the same floor which was excellent planning. Would definitely stay there again.

We stayed at the Crossley for one night, in a standard double room which was clean, quiet and comfortable. The room overlooked an alley off Little Bourke Street and consequently we had no traffic noise. Very good value relative to other hotels in the CBD. We hope to stay there again next time we are in Melbourne. (Great down-to-earth coffee shop, "Le Petit Cafe", across the road.)

This is a very reasonably priced hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. We were two small groups (mothers and daughters) so booked one of the suites with 2 bedrooms which suited us perfectly.
It is not high design but rather very functional and comfortable.
The hotel is very close to Chinatown and a very short walk to the laneway culture and the rest of the CBD. The trams were also very accessible so getting around Melbourne was easy.

Room Tip: We were in room 601 which had the 2 bedrooms on a second level with the living area downstairs. This...

Quite impressed with this hotel. Happy, helpful and efficient staff who allowed us to check in after we arrived early as our room was ready. Hotel is across the road from Her Majesty's Theatre and surrounded by excellent restaurants. Can highly recommend Kri Kri Greek Restaurant 2 doors up. An added bonus is free wifi which worked well in our room 512. The hotel is looking a little tired...worn carpets and thin towels...but the service and convenience far outweighed this. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends and family.

This hotel is situated right in the heart of theatreland and Chinatown - its location could not be better. the room was clean and very pleasant, no views, but who cares! the staff were also fabulous! Situated in a little laneway nearby restaurants, Little Malaysia, the European are just a hop skip and jump away. I will definitely look at staying there again!

Room Tip: I was lucky and got upgraded to a superior room!

The location was great. but inside the hotel is very different from what we saw in the pictures. there was also no wifi available in our room maybe becuase of lack of coverage. it was one of the reasons we chose that hotel but it was all a mistake!
We stayed 3 nights in this hotel. we arrived so early in the morning. Although we already emailed this issue to hotel, they never had replied on the situation if the early check in is available or not. So we went to the hotel to give our luggages to store and go back later to check in. The hotel lobby was just a small corridor with only 2 sofa. since it was a cold early morning we asked the receptionist if we could sit there for a while until shops opened. first, he said OK but then he tried to convince us to go and sit in other coffee shops around the hotel while he said they would open later! and when we didn't leave, he behaved very nervous and making noise by throwing the newspapers here and there until we left to the hotel restuarant. luckily the chinese lady who run the restuarant that day adviced us where to go that early sunday morning. the other staffs also were not better than that receptionist. they were not helpful at all. the staffs in the restuarant also changed the other days and were always frowny. the breakfast was OK.
at the time of check out also when we said we didn't use the mini bar, the receptionist called house keeping to check our room while the other people who were checking out in the same time they just left! We couldn't understand why our room had to be checked like that! it was one of the most impolite staff we were faced!!!

Room Tip: very bad service! not recommended whatsoever!

Dear At0usa

Thank you for your recent review and for highlighting the Hotels great location.

I was disappointed to read the issues you experienced with the WI-fi and service standards during your recent stay. I must say I am surprised by the comments, as Crossley Hotel prides itself on its high level of customer service offered by all staff, as many previous Trip Advisor reviews and guest comments will testify too. I do hope you asked for assistance regarding your WI-fi issues, as staff could have immediately offered trouble shooting suggestions or reported the issue to the internet service provider.
We endeavor to offer an earlier check in where possible to all bookings, subject to availability. As the Hotel was fully booked on the Saturday night prior to your arrival on the Sunday morning, we were unfortunately not able to offer an early check in on this occasion.
The only time Reception staff are required to check the room on departure for mini bar usage ect, is if guests have chosen to provide a cash deposit instead of a pre-authorisation from a credit card. I apologise if this caused any inconvenience.

Once again, thank you for your review and I hope you decide to visit the Crossley Hotel again in the future.

Kind Regards
