“A little gem in the middle of everything ”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Based on Trip Advisor and word of mouth from a few friends we decided to try Adelphi, and we weren't disappointed.

We booked directly through the hotel, and Lance was great over the phone, assisting us with every question we had and even integrating a joke about us Sandgropers (Perth people).

On arrival we were greeted by an art gallery, a wire horse drawing a reception desk carriage through the lobby. After a plane delay and fair few hours in transit the complimentary beverages to help us relax and settle into holiday mode were greatly appreciated!

A Plush King was our room of choice, generous floorspace, didn't feel cramped, and had an interesting industrial theme inside the bathroom, think stainless steel and tempered glass walls.

To be honest, we weren't looking for luxury appointments in a room we would never want to leave. Melbourne is all about exploring the city after all. The room is no Intercontinental, having said that Lance the manager did have a part in the Intercon design as well. It was still luxury, just in it's own Melbourne boutique kind of way.

Finally the staff. Prue, Lance and all of the front desk staff are amazing. Full of knowledge and helpful advice, even happy to take some time out of their work just to talk. It's a personalised touch that can be somewhat lacking these days, so it was refreshing to experience it again.

If you're looking for the truly Melbourne experience, the Adelphi is for you!

Nothing special about the room. They throw in free movies and free chips/chocolates in the room - should keep an option of a few fresh fruits instead of processed sugary snacks.
Skip the breakfast at the hotel restaurant - chef had difficulty with boiling an egg 'nuff said!!

RIght when we arrived we were greeted wonderfully with an unexpected upgrade and drinks from the bar. The room was situated right over flinders lane and the room was so unique. The mini bar and snacks were a great addition and the free movies. The pool on the roof is so different from any hotel pool with part of it looking over the laneway. The hotel is also situated in a perfect location close to all the attractions. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying as its a unique experience in a very central location of Melbourne.

Room Tip: Choose the flinders king room

My husband roger and I have just sadly left the adelphi today and can only say we have had an amazing experience. The hotel is in a wonderful position for some fabulous restaurants ie chin chin tonka and coda. The staff are truly amazing , a special thanks to all including the manager Lance who is outstanding.

We loved this hotel and if you are reading this from overseas you must make the effort to come here . We stayed in room 501Flinders King and it is highly recommended .The room is spacious , very clean and a gorgeous bathroom. Included are lots of goodies please see the website.

If you are not planning to stay here at least visit the restaurant for some amazing cocktails and outstanding deserts, but remember to bring a camera .

Thank you Adelphi and see you soon

As you can imagine a very funky and cool place to stay in the centre of Melbourne. The restaurant attached to the Adelphi and situated under it has excellent cuisine. In addition the Adelphi is perfectly situated across the road from one of the newest Melbourne restaurants from the Cumulus family called 'Supernormal'. Make sure you eat there!! it is the new form of Tappas style eating and fusion of Asian/European and Chinese. Ate Tuesday night very popular.
Having travelled the world, the service in the Hotel was excellent and it seems you are catered for by young energetic staff without sounding too biased .
The room was decorated well to match the hotel's ambience of Art and Funk and was very comfortable. The bathrooms are also decorated in the style of the hotel but I felt they went a little too modern and were a little sterile with their full stainless steel sink and bench with no under bench cupboards and full ceiling to floor mirror. Insignificant really compared with the other many positives.

The BEST!! was the free mini bar!! replenished everyday we took full advantage to snack on delicious Nougat, Salted Caramel Chocolate bars, Liquorice, chips and a plethora of other sweets. The fridge has juice, mineral waters but no alcohol.
The Hotel is known I understand for its Dessert Bar where you are able to order very creative and uniquely styled sweet creations as individual meals from their wonderful and acclaimed Dessert Chef.
The front Lobby is long and narrow and looks out onto Flinders Lane. It is very calming and has an 'Arty' feel.
I really enjoyed my stay and intend to return when next in Melbourne.

Stayed here last week & yes was a funky hotel. Chose this over the Sheraton in Melbourne as i always rely on Tripadvisor. It's the first time Tripadvisor has failed me tho & i have stayed at some luxurious hotels around the world. Adelphi No 3 in Melbourne on Tripadvisor is definitely questionable?
Hilton on South Wharf the night before was much cleaner, more luxurious & CHEAPER.
I could have stayed at Sheraton for $266 & it is a brand new hotel, this was $335.
Will definitely go Sheraton, Langham or Hilton next time.
Rooftop pool area very tired looking with rust bubbling under paintwork on steel frame surround.

We stayed 2 nights for my husband s birthday. Staff congratulated him when we check in.It is so sweet that Staff signed him a bday note and give him wine as present . Staff are all helpful and friendly. There is a maracon everyday in the room from the dessert bar which is the best ever i have taken in Australia . The On Nom is indeed a must visit . Desserts are amazing and unforgetable . There is also free wifi. The overall experience is simply remarkable. We had a very enjoyable stay and will go back .
