“Exceeding expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

Travelled from interstate for a family wedding. The wedding was in an adjacent building the bride & groom and many guests were staying at the Adelphi, so we did the same.

Most pleasing to find professional helpful staff (Ricky Carmichael & team) in all aspects of the visit. A wheelchair bound guest presented no difficulty for theAdelphi team.

The usual check in/ check out processes completed in minutes.

Many thanks to Ricky & the team.

Set right in the heart of Melbourne's Central Business District (the CBD) it is a great location for enjoying Melbourne. The Lanes and Flinders Street Station are a five minute walk away and cafés and restaurants are everywhere. The staff are very friendly and helpful and always ready with good advice.
It's incredibly smart in an artsy sort of way. Males quite an impression. The rooms are large and well equipped and the showers are some of the best I'v come across in Oz. (except that is for one tiny niggle: shower temperature is adjusted with two knobs, hot & cold. So if, like me, you pause the water flow whilst showering you have to fiddle again when you turn it back on or get scalded or frozen. Just a small thing).
For those who want to lounge around in their room rather than explore Melbs, the TV offers a good collection of free movies. We, however, were too busy exploring the town to watch more than the odd news broadcast.
The rooms have been very "designed" and generally this is a good thing but there are some odd quirks which can be a little annoying - nothing major.
Breakfasts are amazing.
Never got to try their speciality desserts at "Om Nom" - bit of an oversight.
The roof top pool is a curiosity - about twenty metres long, two wide and one deep. Not for serious swimmers and is more of a joke than a real pool, but a fun joke nevertheless. We tried it in March when the temperature was a bit chilly so probably not the best time, however must be more attractive when the temperature soars. Great view of the skyline form up there too.
We enjoyed the hotel so much when we arrived that we returned two weeks later to finish off our stay in Australia.
Not cheap, but where is in Melbourne ?

Room Tip: If you're expecting a view from your window you may be disappointed - ours (and those of our fri...

My son and I wanted to do something different for the school holidays and even though we live in Melbourne we decided to have a holiday in the city!
The location of the Adelphi was perfect for all our sightseeing and it was so easy to get to. The rooms are modern and groovy so my teenage son was very impressed and I loved the space and light. Great space also for doing some work. Staff were fantastic and we couldn't believe free minibar and wifi. The beds were so comfy that my son even had an afternoon nap. Would certainly recommend it to friends, colleagues and family. Thank you x

My husband and I spent 2 nights at this hotel as a treat for our wedding anniversary. The hotel centrally located, within easy walking distance to most of Melbourne's attractions. The staff are really lovely, warm and attentive. Extra points to the barman for suggesting a wine cooler and ice when we requested champagne flutes to take up to our room. We were in a 'plush king' room, which was spacious enough, and had plenty of natural light. The room decor was lovely, up to date and the room was exceptionally clean. The complimentary snacks(delicious sweets!) and movies were a plus. We appreciated the donation that the hotel made to a charity of our choice in lieu of changing our bed linen daily. The only draw back for us was that our room was opposite the lift, and we could hear other guests as they waited for the lift to arrive (which led us to wonder if the guests outside could hear us??). This however, is an extremely minor complaint- on the whole our stay was wonderful.

From the first moment we were impressed with the service. We were met on the stairs and the checking in was easy and the staff friendly and thorough. The decor is eclectic but cool and dessert themed. In fact the hotel smells like lollies. In the room we found a jar stuffed full of complimentary lollies and a personal welcome on the mirror. Free water juice and coke in mini bar, free movies and phone calls. Macaroons on turn down service each night. Cool rooftop garden with pool. Delicious breakfast. The best part though was the staff. Really friendly and helpful, giving useful suggestions for places to go. They made us feel like VIP guests as well as friends. The desserts are to die for. We will be making this our new Melbourne home. How could we go anywhere else?

We booked the hotel based on a friends' recommendation and had not been disappointed.
It had been renovated recently and is quite stylish.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable and nice perks like the free mini-bar and free movies are complimentary.
Really nice for Melbourne is the free and very good in room WiFi that allows for remote working if necessary.

We liked the hotel so much that we decided to extend the stay a second week.
All over: a very recommendable hotel with very helpful and friendly staff.

Room Tip: There is a open air pool on the top of the building that extends over the edge of the roof with a tr...

My husband and I have been fortunate to spend time in many lovely hotels around the world. After settling back into Melbourne (after our most recent overseas posting in Vancouver), we decided to get a babysitter for the night and be a tourist in our own city.

Shortlisted was Crown Metropol and The Adelphi, however after calling the latter and hearing there was only one room left, I took it as a sign and booked in for a Saturday night stay.

The outstanding customer experience started from the booking call, and filtered through every touch point. At no point were we disappointed, every expectation we had was well and truly surpassed.

We are still talking about the incredible desserts at OmNom, our son is wildly jealous that we swam at *that* pool and the service was impeccable.

As a proud Melburnian, it's with great pride I can say my city does it best with the Adelphi.
