Owner description: The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is Australia's largest, oldest and most popular sporting venue. The MCG has hosted plenty of international cricket, including the first-ever Test and the 1992 World Cup final, countless VFL/AFL Grand Finals, the 1956 Olympic Games and 2006 Commonwealth Games. It will also host the final of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. Other sporting spectacles include FIFA World Cup soccer qualifiers, rugby league home and away matches and State of Origin and international rugby union clashes. Apart from its sporting events, the MCG has also witnessed many blockbuster music concerts, and even Pope John Paul II held a mass there when he visited Melbourne in 1986. The MCG has a total capacity of 100,024 people, comprising 95,024 seats and 5000 standing room spaces. The stadium also houses the National Sports Museum, which includes some of the most priceless pieces of memorabilia in Australian sporting history.

“Melbourne's Home of Sport”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2014 NEW

If you're in Melbourne and want to get a taste for what we are about, the MCG is at the heart of our language. The home of the AFL Grand Final (Australian Rules Football) and the venue for many great cricket matches to be remembered.
When the footy's on, you simply have to go! Spend one afternoon/night for a great match and remember the atmosphere for the rest of your life.

to this ground. Great football & cricket matches were/are played here. Its a huge park with an old-time atmosphere that dates back to early twentieth century.

“An interesting tour through the past”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2014 NEW

We decided on the visit when we suddenly had spare time. It was a 15 minute wait until the next informative tour. Much of it was interesting, although not for young children in my opinion. There are some great rooms and facilities that the 'normal' visitor to a cricket or AFL match will never see. The tour guide knew it all, although some of it was quite 'dry'. One 'downer' - especially with kids, - there was only one (shared) toilet on the entry level and no others obvious during the tour that we saw. When the tour finished and we were back on the ground we asked if there were other toilets and were directed outside quite some distance to a small facility where there were others waiting. (There may have been some in the museum but that was not here). Apart from this the tour is a good way for adults (my opinion) to spend an hour.

“Go to 1 AFL Grand Final in your life”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2014 NEW

My 18 yo son and I went to the 2014 AFL Grand Final - Sydney Swans vs. Hawthorn. And whilst the Swans didn't win (boo-hoo), nothing can compare to the atmosphere of an MCG Grand Final. The whole event is a real spectacle from start to finish. It was a privilege to be part of such a fantastic occasion and is something that should be on any Australian's bucket list. Would love to do it again - and see Sydney win!
