“NGV review”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

A wonderful museume/gallery with collections of painting, scultpures... best of all it's free for 90% of the exhibit.

Wide collections with explanation of the artist and the painting. Photgraphy is allowed. No flash though.

Good time to spend a lazy afternoon...

Easily accesible. jut 5 mins walk from Flinders Stations

A must see for first time visitors to Melbourne and love the arts and the spacious space and collections...

“Fine art gallery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

Whenever I am in Melbourne, I find a break in the day to go to this favorite gallery. It consistently has good and interesting new exhibitions and so I just turn up and see what is on. Over the years, there have been excellent mainstream exhibitions by oversea artists.Quite often, fashion is featured which is probably appropriate given Melbourne's take on fashion. The decorative arts is well represented. Other reviews mention the permanent displays and I concur with those views. The gallery has good places to eat and the usual shop. The building itself is interesting and its exterior looks good in the various weathers that Melbourne has (even in one day).

“Superb collection”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

Went to the Radiance Neo-Impressionists exhibition and then looked through the European collection. You need more than one day to view this superb art gallery. Marvellous collections.

Very user friendly ,easy to access all the displays. Very modern openness about the building. An amazing collection of old masters upstairs.

“great gallery, bad layout.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

the gallery has a great collection, the cafes are good, highly recommend high tea on a Sunday upstairs. the visiting exhibition was well set out and had a fair amount of space allocated the rest of the gallery failed to flow in a logical way with poor signage to the consistent collections.
