“Good stay but superior disabled room does not have working desk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

I stayed in a superior disabled room as it is the cheapest and came with breakfast. Everything is fine except there is no working desk in the room as advertised in their website. I planned to do a lot of work on my computer, so this was not good at all.

Breakfast was very basic.

Jerad at the reception was very helpful with direction and loaned us an adaptor.

I booked direct on their website and got good rate.

Overall, clean and comfortable new room, plenty of space (although no drawer for cloths).

I stayed here for 5 nights on business during March 2013.

The best things about the Atlantis is its location and proximity - particularly to Southern Cross Staton and Etihad arena. The rooms were clean and fairly large, but beyond this I found the hotel to be lacking.

Most staff seemed unhappy and not too willing to help. Breakfast was very disappoining. Eggs and baked beans - no bacon or fruit (other than some apples) in sight.

Also, during my stay, the floor I was on experienced a power outage. this started one afternoon and continued until the next morning - and not once did hotel staff approach me to let me know what was happening.

If you are on a budget or a footy trip to Melbourne Id recommend this - but beyond that there are better options

We spent 3 nights in this hotel. The hotel is positioned few minutes walk from the main railway station, so if you are coming from the airport using their bus, it's very convininent. The room costs 130$ a night while hotels in the cbd are around or over 200$. Walk to the St Paul cathedral is less than 15 minutes.

Sheets are not changed daily, in fact bed was made every day without the linen change during our whole stay. Towels were changed. No vacuuming. I left strategically placed grapes on the carpet one morning to confirm my suspicions and found them all there when we came back. Any hair on the bathroom floor and in the shower was still there , too.

Reception is basic, no concierge or similar, just two people signing people in and out. Room is very spartanly made, nothing more than the absolute basics. Not sure this should be 4 stars hotel, 3.5 or 3 would be more appropriate.

Air conditioner was very noisy, you could hear other guests slamming doors, but walls between rooms were noise proof. Window cannot be opened and has a view over some city buildings, away from rail station noisy street.

Hotel is very basic but if you want acceptable and cheap place on the outskirts of cbd, and are not too fussed a out the service, it could be a good option.

This is by far the nicest hotel we stayed at during our whole stay in Australia, yet the cost was only slightly more than average.

From the moment you enter reception it screams 4 star. We stayed on the 18th floor in a room supposedly without a view, however it did have a fairly decent view, not over the harbour but far better than the side of a building I was expecting!

The room was spotless, the bed very comfy and all the amenities required were available. Shame about the cost of wifi, although at $20 for 3 days I suppose it wasn't exorbitant.

Swimming pool was a lovely bonus, nice to cool off when it was 35c outside. Breakfast was included in our room price, and wasn't hugely extensive but was very nice. Staff were friendly, though that seems to be par for the course in Australia.

Location is great, 5 minutes walk from the Skybus terminal, 2 minutes walk from the tram stop, and even if you want to walk round the CBD it doesn't take long.

Excellent hotel, highly recommended.

Room Tip: Judging by my experience, you might get a view even without paying for a room with one!

The good:
Early check in,location...close to everything and where we needed to be
The bad:
Dust all over toilet even though they put the seal on it,previous guests key card from another hotel left in room, smoke detector flashing an annoying green light at all times which made sleeping disturbed,no air-conditioning in hallways and it was mid to high 30's when we were there and the pool area smelt like sewerage, there is no way I could have gone for a swim
Definitely not a 4 star hotel

We were very pleased with our 3 night stay in Atlantis Hotel, The hotel was well positioned for Etihad Stadium, Southern Cross Railway Station, Trams, Crown Casino. Excellent value - we booked a great deal through "Hotel Club' which included breakfast. Our room was very clean and comfortable with a great view over Etihad Stadium.

Room Tip: The higher the floor the quieter the room - some rooms have great views, others none.

On a public holiday weekend, when hotels were filling fast in Melbourne, we managed to bag the last room available at Best Western Atlantis. Although this room did not have a view it was spacious, clean, comfortable and well equiped. The hotel itself is well placed for access to public transport being opposite Southern Cross Station with its regular bus link to the airport as well as an extensive train network, Spencer Street is also a main route for trams travelling throughout the city, including the FREE no. 35 which goes right around the CBD. There are lots of places to eat, drink and shop within walking distance too. Good value for money, I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: If a view is important to you ask when booking.
