“Great staff! Great Location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2011

We stayed for four nights (booked two rooms for family) and during our stay we were well looked after. Loved the complimentary red wine in our room! along with the personalised welcome note (Platimum Elite - Priority Club) The river view rooms are very special at night looking towards Crown Casino - its magical. The breakfasts are the best - Ann the egg lady has to have special mention, her omlettes are amazing (AND, she remembers me every time I visit - which is only once or twice a year!!!)
Thanks Crowne Plaza.

Stay there 18-23June.
1. concierge came took my luggage out of the taxi, when I say I'll carry it myself, immediately he let go and dropped the bag on the floor.
2. like any other IHG hotels, you just stand and wait in front of the priority club check in counter but no one cares until you ask for help, why put the sign there??
3. finally someone coming out from the back office and happened to saw me standing there, unwillingly the staff (an Asian woman with her hair dyed blond) checked me in, knowing I'm a platinum ambassador member, she's still very unfriendly.
4. room service delivery guy walked out of the room leaving the door open, great service!
5. approaching front desk to check out, 3 staffs saw me coming and none of them offer any help nor greeting, just standing there like a dummy, one of them was even staring at me, she stared again when I try to get her name, her name is Jennifer.
6. I've sent a complaint email to the priority club, no feedback after half a month.
If you are planning to go to Melbourne, stay at other hotels.
If you are planning to become an Ambassador member (cost you US$100 a year and gives you nothing but disappointment), don't!
For the last 8 years, I've been staying at the IHG hotels whenever I'm on business trip, I believe it's time to change hotel.

The Crowne Plaza Melbourne is located on the banks of the Yarra River and boasts breathtaking views. The rooms are large, modern and well appointed. The food served is excellent with tender mouthwatering Australian style dishes including steaks and seafood. The Tram stops close to the hotel thereby making the hotel a very convenient base to explore the city.

Booked a Queen room for an overnight business trip.

The bed was large, the room was clean and everything was as you'd expect.

I had a great nights sleep.

I visited Melbourne for the second time, in September, and stayed at Crown Plaza for a week. We stayed in a deluxe room facing the Yarra River on a high floor. The view is fantastic, in good weather, and in night time.

The hotel has a very large shopping mall and a casino next to it, with lots of restaurants. The lobby is big and stylish, there are always many people walking in the lobby because of its variety of shops and restaurants. The room is spacious, clean and has a long sofa perfect for watching TV. Breakfast is on first floor coffee shop, facing the river as well. I have been able to access the club lounge which is located on second floor. The original club lounge is located on higher floors but was on renovation at the time I visited. The lounge has a very comfortable environment and good service. The hotel is a bit farther away from the shopping area, which takes about 20 minutes walk. I visited a grill restaurant located on ground floor. The food and service is quite good.

Booked a Wotif Mystery Deal while my husband was at a conference at Melbourne Convention Center. In spite of the great bargain price ($130), and arriving with a backpack for luggage, no make-up, car needing a wash, etc., I really felt like I was treated like first class for duration of stay.

From the front desk accommodating my room view and late check out requests to the concierge booking us lunch reservations to the valet having our car waiting out front at check out time...the staff were incredibly helpful and professional.

I had, frankly, always thought of the Crowne Plaza as the less attractive of the options around the casino (there are a few newer choices, e.g. Metropol) but now having a first hand experience do highly recommend this venue if you are wanting to be in that area.

Not an ideal location if you are wanting to be downtown in the Central business District or partying it up at nightclubs...a better fit for convention center and casino. There were a few cracks in the tile in the bathroom. Would be nice if there were a covered, heated area for smokers, who had to sit out on the street.

Otherwise, a truly lovely, memorable, flawless experience - highly recommend!

Room Tip: They may be willing to upgrade depending on availability. I was more interested in a king bed than...
