“Best horse at the best course”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

I was privileged to be at Flemington to see Black Caviar win the Lightning this year. The VRC put on a very well organised day with extra activities from Shetland pony rides to a nail bar to the Black Caviar Walk of Fame. The amenities at Flemington are world class and well worth a visit whether you are into racing or not. There is not a bad seat in the grandstand and a bar or food outlet at every turn. You can get close to the horses or enjoy a picnic on the lawn. Who knows, you might even see the next champion go round.

“The Race That Stops A Nation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

We have just booked our tickets for our 8th cup in the last 9 years.we are not big racing fans but this event is truely awesome. A few tips that may help you 1Do all your bets except each way at theT A B the day before{it will save you queing for hours] each way go to a bookie,no wait.2take a fold up $2 raincoat [we have had temps of between 15 -mid 30s once on the same day.3 we have found a bar behind the main stand where you will wait no more than 5 min for food or drinks [you wait far longer at K F C or McDs] 4 ladies wear flat shoes and you find that the toilet lines are far longer than the gents5 Within 30 min of the big race the main exit taxi ranks are moving and you should not have more than 10 min wait.A truely great day that when you hear the crowd and the hoofbeats as the cup horses near the finish line will remain with you foreever

“Great racecourse experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2012

I don't recommend going to see the Melbourne Cup as it is too crowded but it is a lovely racetrack to visit at one of the smaller meetings. The Australia Cup which is run in March is probably the best day. The meeting is top quality with not too many people.

“One of the most beautiful race courses in the world”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2012 via mobile

Flemington is home to both the VRC (Victorian Racing Club) and the Melbourne Cup. During spring racing carnival it is too crowded to see or enjoy the history and beauty of this race course. You are much better off going to a smaller race meeting during the year when the crowds are not and big or as out of control. If you are lucky enough to go with a VRC member who has a spare members pass then you can enjoy the rather more rarified atmosphere of the members facilities. no matter when or where you go the gardens around the course are going to be beautiful. Flemington is famous for its roses and there are literally thousands of them.
