If you like real thai food, not the Australian Thai food then this is the place to go. It seats around 40 or so people. Probably best to book on Friday and Saturday nights- its pretty popular.
They have two menus. The one you get when you walk in or the "spicy" menu which you need to ask for if you are not Thai.
We had the "normal" menu which is still authentic thai food, perhaps not as spicy as the other one.
There are quality wine glasses on the linen tablecloths and quality thai cutlery. Its a place where you can either eat casually or dress up for a nice night out.
We started with a bottle of Preece cab sav . At $32 it was one of the cheaper ones on the menu. Wine also available by the glass at around $7 to start. there is a reasonable wine list with a range of prices from around $28 and up.. Beer was around $7 and up, with a good range available.
We strarted with a soft shell crab. A favourite of mine if done well and this one was. A good serve and at $27.90 one of the more expensive items on the menu. Seafood unfortunately is never cheap but this was worth the cost. 8/10 from me. Beautifully cooked dish
The red duck curry was good at $23.90, but not brilliant, although it was flavour packed with plenty of spice and lemongrass and kaffir lime. A little more duck would have been nice. 7/10 for this one.
Our Penang chicken at $18.90 hit all the right notes but couldn't match our first dish. A nice dish full of flavour. 7/10
A highlight dish was the crispy pork with chinese brocolli at $19.90. Cooked to perfection although a little light on with the pork I thought. Beautiful crispy pork belly. 8.5/10
Jasmine rice was $12 for four of us.
Good service, nice atmosphere, medium sized serves for the food, but quality and fresh ingredients in all our dishes. Good to share . In my view the food we were served matched the quality and cooking of food I have regularly in Thailand. Highly recommended for a nice night out if you like real thai cooking. Some might find the food a bit too spicy for their tastes if not used to real thai food. Just ask for not too spicy if you don't like it too spicy.
