I found Victoria's museums to be of very high quality and I thought that the exhibits were very interesting, particularly those in the immigration museum and the forest gallery at the Melbourne Museum.
A great place to learn a little about the indigenous peoples of Victoria, amongst other things. The museum is well spaced out and is very interesting.
It does not look like a museum should. But it has what a museum should have. Displays that are interestingly presented and curated in ways that make sense of history and evolution
Over all it was a bit of a let down, poor signage, a lot of space not a lot to look at. Cafe was nice if not over un by unruly people who dont know how to stand in line.
The last time I went to the Melbourne Museum, I was a kid, in Primary School.
Since then, I had never set foot into the museum until recently. The Titanic Exhibition. King Tut's Exhibition. Absolutely loved it.
Definitely give yourself a few hours to browse around this place. Looking at the rest of the exhibition, I was only able to see half before it closed.
I don't know if I was looking hard enough, but when the museum is full it's terribly hard to find a place to sit or even eat.
Overall, it's a great place to take the family or partner and it's still close to the city so just a short drive down, you'll find some great places to eat.
