“Five stars for his lovel B and B”

This is a delightful place to stay in Carlton, Melbourne. The rooms are spotless and furnished beautifully. Ian the owner is friendly, helpful and provides a real home from home. I really liked the way you made your own breakfast from his larder/pantry. It's located near the buses and trams, so easy to get into the city. Food - Italian and more! It's situated a stones throw from the cafe district in Carlton. Just everyone is catered for here. I would highly recommend this establishment for people that enjoy quality.

As others have said this is a perfectly located central guesthouse with excellent facilities. What will strike you is the warm and relaxed welcome, and the friendly atmosphere which pervades the whole establishment. This all comes from Daisy of course, but I sensed Ian just might have a bit to do with it too :-)

I stayed for four nights in what was my first visit to Melbourne. Staying at 169 Drummond Street was a real bonus. The rooms are well-appointed with excellent en suite facilities and scrupulously clean. The help-yourself breakfast and coffee service made eating very relaxing as there were no time pressures at all. Ian is on hand to give you great advice on where to eat. With so many local restaurants round the corner this local knowledge was extremely helpful.

It was just so much fun being at 169 and meeting the other guests round the dining table in the evening, added to by Ian's fast and witty quips and stories. It really did feel like a home-from-home.

So, many, many thanks Ian and Daisy for making my visit to Melbourne so happily memorable. I do hope our paths will cross again soon.

Perfectly located a little north of the city centre and a five minute walk from dozens of restaurants, this quiet and simple place had comfortable beds, air conditioning, help-yourself breakfasts (cereal, toast, jam, yogurt, fruit, tea, coffee, cookies). It has a good assortment of local magazines and guides to the area and the proprietor offers helpful, opinionated advice on what to see and where to eat. Daisy, the small elderly dog, was friendly and quiet. Our room had two large windows (which opened to a street-front balcony) a compact well-designed bathroom and a small flat screen tv. Internet access available for $6 per day.

Ian and Daisy may have been in the B&B business for a long time, but neither of them seem tired of it! We had a great 5 night stay recently and highly recommend 169 Drummond St. Ian is on hand with advice, a chat, or a story to tell, and keeps his accomodation spotlessly clean, tidy and welcoming. Perfect location for the city or Lygon St area, and several tram routes are nearby. Very friendly atmosphere, and popular with gay travellers - but that's only because we have great taste! Anyone would feel welcome here.

Thank you Ian for a fantastisch stay again. We enjoyed every bit of it. The room is still as comfortable and spotless clean as our previous visit. And the area even more Italian businesses started up with lovely restaurants, bakeries, Italian delis... We hope to come back a next time and maybe stay another night more.... And we do hope we can welcome you in Bruges Belgium in our b&b bariseele. Lots of regards!

Room Tip: We think all rooms look as beautiful and comfortable with aircon.

Ideal accommodation in a perfect location. There is a real sense of privacy and welcome, and I felt at ease as if I was in my own home as soon as I got there. Ian also provided loads of great advice about where to eat and how to get around the city. You could not ask for a better base for your time in Melbourne.

We had a one night stay at short notice and Ian was great in dealing with a few manic, last minute emails.

Located on a quiet road and smelling strongly of the fresh lilies that were placed in our room and on the landing, 169 Drummond street is a beautiful B&B in a fantastic past of town. We enjoyed a glass of wine on our balcony before walking the neighbourhood, enjoying a meal in Lygon Street (busy and touristy but worth exploring) before ending the night with drinks on Brunswick Street.

Ian's languid hospitality was one of the highlights of our time in Melbourne and we'll definitely be back if we can.

It's also worth noting that 169 Drummond Street B&B is advertised as Lesbian and Gay accommodation on their own website, but we were made very welcome as a straight couple.
