“Great”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012 via mobile

Great apartments with perfect view and location. Comfy & clean beds and towels. Yet we struggled with the bad smell of the bathroom, we bought a candle to cover it up and it solved the problem.
Anyhow I highly recommend it.

We had booked into a two bedroom and two bathroom apartment as we were 4 adults and 1 kid. The location was fantastic and the views from our bedroom window was amazing at night. The kitchen was well provided with all amenities. Only downside is that there was no room cleaning inspite of our 5 night stay. All in all, highly recommended.

2 bedroom apartment, able to rent a travel cot, great location central to where we wanted to be -tram stops, train station, restaurants and city centre all within 10 mins walk. Apartment whilst not furnished with every utensil etc had everything we needed for a long weekend and we were comfortably able to cook meals for children, washing up liquid etc was provided and additionally it was spotlessly clean. Swimming pool was fabulous and gym looked fine. Having a supermarket downstairs open until 11pm was also great. For 2 adults and 2 young children this worked perfectly for us and we will without hesitation rent here again and I would recommend it.

I booked this apartment online and straight away knew this place would be very nice but when we actually got there at 11.30pm it was more then we expected. My daughters aged 17 and 19 thought it was wonderful. Very close to everything if you don't mind walking. The only problem was the main door not being self locking. The store down stairs was very convenient also.

Room Tip: We were on the 26th floor overlooking the Eureka Skydeck.

Although the Grand Hyatt at Century City in Los Angeles is my favourite hotel on the planet, Southbank One and the whole complex of MSSA properties at Southbank is my favourite place to stay in the world, compounded by the fact that after my home city of London, Melbourne is my favourite place in the world.

It's true you have to be fortunate for them to grant you a high floor to appreciate the properties most - with stunning views of the bay, or South Yarra and well beyond and - if you're lucky as I was - to have a corner property with both views. I got the 34th floor - but each time I have stayed I've been granted above floor 30.

If you wake with the sun rise from this location you can also catch the balloons as the grace their way over the Yarra Valley.

I have stayed at Southbank with MSSA many times. The apartments are very spacious and superbly equipped, reasonably priced and with every comfort you could expect from modern living (though see also my review of MMSA's newest property, City Tempo in the north west CBD, which should actually be avoided unless you like microliving).

Southbank One has a good concierge facility, the place is kept in very good condition and the views from the high floors are absolutely stunning - especially if you get an elevation over the bay and watch the sun set.

There is a food store at the bottom of the buildng open 7 - 11 from everything from milk upwards and the 55 tram which runs nearby connects frequently to the City. The Skybus shuttle to Southern Cross also runs to the Cuty Road office at 187 City Road if you book it ahead.

Absolutely marvellous. Thank you again MSSA!

Room Tip: Ask for a high room.

We arrived after office hours and ended up going around the building in circles. Not much info was given prior to arrival regarding check-in after office hours. Thankfully, our keys were left with the security so we did not have to spend the cold night in the streets.

First impression of the building was average until the door that is really basic with just a key lock.

All these changed the moment we step into the room though. We were greeted by a full view of night sky of Melbourne as the room had full glass panel from the hall to the rooms. I'd say the view is probably the best thing of this apartment.

The apartment came with fully equipped kitchen, washing machine and dryer. Beds were comfortable and all. The only inconvenience would be having only 1 bathroom and check-in office located opposite the block.

A convenience store is located right beside the main entrance. The highway is a short distance away.

Overall a great place to stay at.
