“Can't believe it is free”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2013

This is a fantastic service to get a good overview of Melbourne. We had the brochure a couple of days before our planned trip and decided ahead which stops we wanted to get off. We parked the car at the Arts centre and decided to do Southbank first and get on the bus at stop 12. That way it was easiep to get a good seat. We had planned to get to Lygon Street for lunch so the timing was perfect. Had we got on at the Arts centre first we would have arrived at Lygon st too early for lunch. We got of at Harbour Town (Stop 9). What a surprise that was - lovely shopping (Good sourvenir stores) and a very nice walk over to (Stop 10). Loved the mosaic of the iconic Australians and the statues of Dame Edna etc. We got on again at stop 10 and off again at stop 12 and walked up the other side of the Yarra back to the Arts Centre. It was a beautiful sunny day. So many choices for stops. A great day out. Commentary also adds to the experience. We started at 10:00am and got back to car at 4:00pm. Grandparents, 2 teenagers, and Me (Mum).

“Crowded Midday - Go Early or Late in the Day”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013 via mobile

Chose this option in order to get an overall perspective of the central area of Melbourne. It's free to ride the hop on - hop off visitor shuttle at any of their 13 stops. Initially starting at the stop outside Federation Square, it wasn't until stop 9 (Docklands) that I was able to get a window seat after standing for 30 minutes.

This is an excellent option to see Melbourne. It did seem like locals use it as a free means of lical transportation though.

Really, how is such an excellent service free? The tour couldn't be better designed as it gets you in and out of Melbourne's CBD a couple of times and to many attractions and areas just outside it. If you don't stop, the circuit takes about 90 minutes but, of course, you can get on or off wherever you like. Stops include the arts precinct, Federation Square, the MCG, Chinatown, Carlton, the Queen Victoria Markets, Docklands area, Southbank and the Botanic Gardens. The route also overlaps with the free city tram if you want to get off the bus and hop on to that. The commentary on the bus is helpful, informative and good humoured. A bus arrives at each stop every half hour and it runs from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm. You should definitely use this free service either for tourism or just to get around.

The tour bus was fantastic and provided a wonderful way to orient us to the city of Melbourne, and, provided the opportunity to choose what we'd spend our time visiting.

“Friendly and helpful drivers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

A great way to travel around Melbourne ... the free shuttle bus goes further afield than the free tram but often overlaps so you can hop on and off either form of transport. The buses run regularly and it is easy to find their stops and expected times. There is a commentary but we found the drivers were so friendly and proud of their city, that their commentary was often better than the audio commentary.
