Having seen George C on Australian Masterchef, this was something of a destinations for us while visiting Melbourne for the Lions tour. We had booked well in advance to be sure of a table, but such is the popularity of the place we could still only get a late table....but late or not it was worth the trip.
Arriving the street seemed quiet, and were a long way (so it felt) from the buzz of e city, but opening the door to the restuarant the was a great buzz inside. Open plan and open kitchen ( although there seemed to be a glassed in private dining area) it was a smart greek inspired interior. Staff were all very helpful and friendly, and helped us select one of the set menus. We wanted to sample as much as possible of the food, and picking the Athenian was certainly the best way to go. Highlights were the sublime dips, the grain salad and the seafood, but it was all awesome. As the wines were all Greek we sought some advice from our very helpful waitress and we really enjoyed the choices. Superb meal brilliant place - wish it were a little nearer as I could eat there every week. The only let down was not seeing George!!!!
