“A great location for your Melbourne short stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012 via mobile

These apartments have all you need for a Melbourne short stay. The apartments are well situated in the lovely dockland area (quieter than central accommodation) while being just a 2 minute walk from the trams, and about 5 minute ride to the city centre. There are great eateries at street level, or you can pick your goodies up from the market and use the well equiped kitchens to create your own gourmet meals. The apartments are beginning to show signs of wear and tear, but overall offer great value for money. We would happily stay here again.

Our apartment was fantastic to say the least!
We stayed in a 1br + study in the Palladio block. The apartment was very clean, lovely presentation and quality fittings. Just perfect for our family of three as the 'study' is a separate room with single bed. The layout of the apartment was very open with the living area being all glass and therefore light and airy. Location is perfect with an array of restaurants, cafe, gelato, convenience store etc along the docklands boardwalk, walk across the road to Harbourtown Outlet Shopping Centre and 1 minute walk to the tram stop for accessing all around Melbourne (including the 35 City Circle free tram).
Having secure parking for our car without crazy parking costs was a huge bonus. Parking was below the building with internal access to the elevator foyer.
Furthermore, the staff were very friendly and most helpful (we made a change to our booking at the 'eleventh hour' and they were so lovely & willing in trying to help us).
Highly recommend! Can't wait to return!

This was one of the best apartment stays we’ve had as a family. It is modern, new and we felt right at home staying here. The staff care about these apartments and they are well looked after. We could park our car in the secure garage and take the elevator up to our floor. It was ideal with the children as we could go walking around the Docklands area and was also close to get into the city area. It wasn’t noisy and the beds were so very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and an excellent size. There was all the conveniences in the area, restaurants, a little mini market shop nearby and the tram stop. We would stay here again as a family.

This apartment exceeded our expectations. We booked a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment for a girls weekend. The apartment was spotlessly clean, comfortable beds, beautiful fully equipped kitchen and it was very roomy we never felt cramped. It had everything we needed and the people at reception brought up extra towels when requested and walked us to our room upon arrival. We stayed in the condor building 15th floor room 1504 which had spectacular views. The heated indoor pool was also fantastic withna view. The tram stops right outside, heaps of restaurants close by, convenience store, liquor etc...highly recommend this one. We'll be back!!

Staying here with our 4 kids is a delight. With sweeping views over the Docklands, cafes and restaurants downstairs and a tramstop at the front door to take you into the CBD, this is definately a place I would recommend for families and travellers wanting to savour the delights for Melbourne for a longer stay. Big rooms, nice furnitiure and a lovely setting make this almost perfect. If I had to be picky - it still anoys me that you cant get free WiFi in places like this! Although you can hire a wifi box for $17 per day, at these rates this really should be included (and for that matter more Australian hotels and accomodations need to step up their game and provide free wifi as a matter of course!) A little coffee machine would also be great, but now I really am being fussy. Definately would recommend these apartments for families especially. Etihad stadium is at your doorstep.

If you are like us and enjoy having your own space which is clean, has a kitchen, lounge and bedrooms, so you can enjoy a wine and cheese on your balcony. They had fox tel, but only manly sports, but who goes on holiday to watch t.v? Close to trams, food outlets, bars. Then this is the place. It is simple, clean has good security, offers harbor(discount) shopping across the way, with brand name shoes (Joanne Mercer) and clothing, and it is not a bad size. There is a Costa's in walking distance, but if you are not a member then to purchase from there you need to become a member. On the docklands itself there is an array of restaurants, both sides of the waterways, and there is also markets on the docklands itself on the Sundays starting at 10am. Check out for the specials, they do have happy hours in some of the establishments from 3pm to 7pm long but worth it! and also lots of lunch specials, which is great when your holidaying. All in all I think this is a great couples place, as the rooms are city size so with two of us it was comfortable.

Room Tip: We were on the 15th floor which had a nice view

3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2012

We Stayed from 10th February to 24th February at the Caravel Lane apartments for 14 days, then again on a second stay for 2 nights on 01st and 02nd March 2012. Firstly, let me say genuinely that the team in the Docklands office are excellent, Ani and her collegues were very helpful and at times we used them more like travel agents than apartment managers so many thanks. The review below is more related to the apartment conditions.

First Stay 10th - 24th February

When we arrived we had an after hours check in for the Caravel lane apartments and picked up the key using the after hours system which worked easily and it was great to have a free carpark the entire time. We were a little disappointed with the condition of the apartment when arriving with things like: The fire sprinkler hanging out of a broken hole in the bathroom ceiling and a big split right across the ceiling, the Oven door rubber hanging off, the dishwasher door at the bottom seemed to be missing or worn away, when you opened tghe dishwasher it would only open a few inches then hit the wall, and it smelled pretty bad.

The top of the kitchen cupboard door was missing its edge which looked a bit tacky. Also there are quite a few scuff marks on the walls, chipped paint, and the carpets are dark from dirt right along the edges where they meet the walls. We found old fingernails on the lounge carpet rug. We vacummed the apartment ourselves and you could hear the grit and dust being sucked up in the vaccum and it looked better after that, so obviously the apartment hadnot been vaccumed for some time as the carpet was a totally different shade of cream after that ?

Also the inside of the aluminium window ledges were dirty and dusty, as were all of the surfaces and all of the lampshades were very dusty, as were the air con vents which were thick with grey fluff and dirt. There were cigarette buts on the balcony and it needed a good cleaning of which we swept ourselves.

We advised Ani inthe office of these issues and they were very quickly rectified or at least patched up the next morning while we were out which was really appreciated. The beds
were very comfortable.

The outdoor pool on level 5 needs maintenance. From when we arrived on 10th February until we left 24th february there were several areas of broken deck boards which had signs around them, however they were not fixed. Some decking boards felt loose, and there were nails protrooding from the decking that needed hammering down. We heard various other guests commenting on this while we were in the pool also.

The spa pool adjoining he pool was sometimes cold for 3 to 4 days and unoperational, then working, then it was quite dirty for quite a few days and not working again. there was a mix up where we were to have a service on abut the third day, and when the cleaners arrived we asked them if they were going to change the bed linen, and they said no.

Then the service that was due on day 7 never happend as the cleaner didnot turn up to work, and the next day was sick. Therefore effectively we had the same sheets for 9 days. The cleaners claimed that they changed them at day 3, which was incorrect, as we made the bed ourselves that time, and the sheets were not changed as we asked them as we were leaving and they said that they only wiped down the bathroom surfaces and they were very specific. We discussed this with Ani in the office with another gentleman who spoke to the cleaners. There was a bit of a debate as to who said what and while they were polite it did make us feel a little like we had to prove that the sheets had not been changed.

The one major gripe we had was the smokers ! on regular intervals day and night all of a sudden you could smell cigarette smoke as if it was right inside the apartment ? I dont know if it came through the vents, or windows but it was unpleasant. I think that they need to consider reviewing the air con and where it sucks air from, and or possibly situating customers who are non smoking next to other customer who are non smoking as even onthe balcony the smells wofted over and we had to keep closing the ranchsliders.

On the whole, we still enjoyed our stay as we Love Melbourne and the site is handy for the free tram opposite harbourside, and for strolling along the docklands at night. The views were great. We would give the office and Ani a 10, and the partment a 5.

2nd Stay 2 nights 01st and 02nd March

We were situated in their other building ( the blue building ) further down towards the city side of docklands on the corner. The apartment was a lot nicer, cleaner, better condition, the indoor pool facilities were far nicer and the view was fantastic. We wished we were aware of this apartment for the longer first stay. No problems there, enjoyed the stay, thanks team.

Room Tip: Ask to be located in the blue building the apartments are nicer than the main Caravel lane apartment...
