“Great hotel at great location...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2011

Crown Metropol Hotel is absolutely beautiful - modern, trendy, elegant and cozy. Our room was on 24th floor with wonderful city view. Room was huge, with lots of space for luggage, heavenly bed with luxurious pillows and sheets, soft and cuddly bathrobes with matching slippers, about 6 different magazines to read, and much more.
Bathroom is also great, with nice big soft towels and all the little luxuries, like soap, shampoo, shower gel, body moisturiser, shaving and sewing kit, as well as tooth brush, cotton wool, tissues and I'm sure I didn't mention everything. There is plenty of coffee, tea and hot chocolate available ( complimentary, of course ).
We were impressed how quiet it was for Saturday night, we couldn't hear any noise from the outside, everything was so peaceful and relaxing.
Crown Entertainment Complex and Casino is just a couple of minutes away, you can go directly to the Casino via internal hallway, which is great, especially if wet and cold outside.
We also had buffet breakfast at Maze restaurant ( owned by popular Gordon Ramsey ). Breakfast was great, with good selection of quality food, lots to choose from and chefs will cook pancakes or eggs for you the way you like it. If you want to avoid crowds, you need to go to breakfast before 9am. From 9am - 10.30am is the busiest time and you may need to wait a while before you will be able to get a table.

This hotel exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived the porter, valet driver and reception staff made us feel very welcome and comfortable. We stayed in a king size room and found this to be spacious. The rooms are modern and the decor is beautiful. The cleaniness and presentation of the room and hotel is truly a credit to the cleaners. The gym is exceptionally well equiped and would certainley be the best that I have visted whilst I have been on holidays. The pool is warm and relaxing with a good outlook of the city. The location of this hotel is excellent. It is joined onto the casino, many restaurants and stylish boutiques. It is then a short walk to Flinders Street. We loved staying here and will stay here again in the future.

Crown metropol is chic and modern with spacious rooms perfect for a young family. Don't know why so many reviewers had issues with open plan shower/bathroom. I thought it was going to be a full expose after reading the reviews, but it's not that bad! There are large sliding screens that can block the view into the bathroom. The only thing it doesn't have is a door! But there is a full door for the toilet and for shower! The housekeeping service was meticulous and nothing was left out in replenishing shampoo ,soap, tea etc ..and service throughout the hotel was efficient and friendly. The pool area is on level 27 and has full glass walls to see the view of Melbourne. It is all indoors so was warm for the kids to play for ages and I didn't have to worry about sunscreen or getting chilled. One of the best pools I've been to. The breakfast at maze by Gordon ramsay is nothing extra special to rave about but it is a decent spread and has all the essentials for a Five star hotel brekkie. The best part was that we didn't have to go far for food or entertainment as the hotel is linked to crown casino complex. The only downside is it was the furthest away from food court and other places we went to compared to crown towers or promenade. For this reason only would I pay a little more and stay at towers next time. But without kids the metropol is fine too.

We stayed here for my birthday weekend. If u have no expectations of this hotel then u will be pleaantly surprised but if u r expecting upmarket 5-star then u will be disappointed. Bell desk and valet parking staff were helpful. Kate at reception was very pleasant and had a seamless check-in. We had the Luxe twin room - 2 queen beds, spacious looking, clever design, no bath tub, nice view. They provided a new baby portable cot and baby bath tub for our bub. Loved the complimentary magazines, comfy slippers and warm bathrobes,

The pool has lovely views, loved the daybeds and separate warm pool. All in all a very pleasant stay, recommended for location and good pool but only if u dont have super high 5 star expectation....this is more like a good 4.5 star.

We managed to get a great package deal and we were not disappointed. The moment we walked into the room we thought `wow`. The beds are extremely comfy which is one of the first things i look for as there is nothing worse than a horrible hard bed. We did not have room service as we were going to a function at crown, but our package included car parking and breaky. The breakfast was worth the money but the baked beans were hard as a rock, maybe they do them themselves, but they need to be cooked longer. I normaly dont have much fruit for breakfast but one look and i could not resist it, it looked so delicious i had to have a bowl full.

The most important thing to know is that if your going to MAZE (gordon ramsey's restaurant) make sure you book into the grill side and NOT the fine dining side. Same experiance but the food in the grill was up there with the best i've had
We managed to book this hotel on wotif using a mystery deal, so got it a really good price. You can tell before you book that it will be this hotel you will be staying at, becasue it tells you that you will be staying in a luxe room, even when booking using the mystery deal. i stayed with my partener for 2 nights, thought it had a really good feel and was a really nice place. Loved the ice machine in the hallway. Would for sure stay there again.

I stayed here with a friend for her birthday and had requested twin beds on our reservation. Unfortunately on arrival the hotel only had a king bedroom and no other available rooms- the best offered was a rollaway or made up chaise. The rooms although modern, seemed to lack luxury- stay at Crown Towers if you want it! The bathroom , although funky lacked privacy with sliding panels and a large hole near the bedhead.

The night we stayed was my friends birthday and the hotel provided complimentary Champagne and Chocolates- a very nice touch and much enjoyed!
