“luxurious way to spend my wedding night, an uncomfortable sleep though”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

My husband and myself recently stayed here for our wedding night. Aside from a slight confusion about what to do to valet park when first arriving I found the girl who checked me in to have gone above and beyond. She even sent us up a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine once she realised it was our wedding day, her only bad tip was suggesting we go to sky bar to get some great pics, personally I found all the view had was a carpark. We had in room dining which was not too pricey when comparing it to restaurants in the area and the food was pretty good quality. The entire staff went above and beyond every time we dealt with them and I have not had service like that since we travelled to Dubai. (although our Dubai accommodation was half the price of crown)

a couple of down notes :

- The lovely big fluffy pillows are good in theory, but left us tossing and turning trying to get comfy all night.

- despite us turning the heating/aircon down to the lowest temperature, we kept waking up sweating all night

overall a luxurious stay, but far to expensive to stay there if its not a special occasion

very nice place to stay, funky rooms, very clean, staff friendly, a bit dark in corridors and black light switches on dark walls not easy to find!!! all in all loved it.
downside if you want to watch a in house movie $16.95 a movie a bit pricy!!
would stay there again.

Had a great time a couple of years ago as part of a QANTAS package including air fares and Grand Prix tickets.
Decided to go again next year and stay at the Metropol but unfortunately the accomodation rates are up from $255.00 per night to $900 - $5000 per night because of the grand prix weekend. Apparently I was told that you can put the prices up a little bit - Little Bit!!!!!!!!!!! So basically we can go overseas for what it would cost for 4 nights accomodation in Melbourne....Not impressed that you could increase your hotel rates by 4 times to make money off people that just want to come down to watch the Grand Prix.

Stayed a night last week, with my partner, great place, lovely and new rooms, and everything perfect. except, when we went to go to bar 28, we couldnt. the lift wouldnt take us there. after a few attempts we went to reception to ask why, we were told there was a private function. It would have been nice if when we checked in during the afternoon, it was mentioned that bar 28 was closed, or it would of been nice if there was a sign to let guests know... we had made plans to go there, as we wanted to spoil ourselves, as a last luxury before holidays end.

Great hotel with a very cool funky vibe. Great location. Amazing view from the pool and the sky bar on level 28 was amazing. Direct access to all of the crown complex fabulous shopping and dining made our stay a breeze Professional and friendly staff. Free wifi would have been nice but overall a great hotel
Can't wait to return and stay a while ....

Heard from friends that this was worth a stay in town over a weekend and thought we would try it.

Situated behind Crown Casino, but not far enough to be a pain to get into town. 5 minute walk to the Crown gambling complex and another 10-15mins into the heart of the city. 5 min walk to Melbourne Exhibition Building (can be seen from our room).

Excellent rooms, generous size. Modern design, with tasteful decor.

Swimming pool is awesome, must visit for a morning splash.

The only issue was like all hotels, they need your credit card details in case you decide to go on a bender at night and trash the room. What I had discovered after checking out, they actually deduct the monies off your credit card and redeposit it a week or more later. So if you are on a tight budget, take note that you will be missing several hundred dollars off your card. I confirmed this by calling their finance department and this was normal operations from them.

Apart from this hiccup, it was a great place to stay over the weekend.

Room Tip: Ask for a late checkout, we weren't charged extra.

We stayed here for my birthday and for absolutely no reason at all we were upgraded to the Loft. Best room I have ever stayed at in Australia. There was a TV in the living area, bedroom and bathroom! Remote blinds, bath robes, massive spa, separate powder room, incredible views, beautiful art work, just a few things that added to the overall luxury. We had a buffet breakfast the following morning, all the usual inclusions. The ambiance was great but the food quality was a little below the high standard I had expected. The range was great but the food wasn't quite 5 star quality. That aside, our entire stay was fantastic and I am hanging out for the next time we have an excuse to return!!

Room Tip: Corner suite for extra views.
