“Good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2012 via mobile

Nice clean rooms and modern set up. Kitchenette is adequate. Great location walking distance to the main sights. Very secure.

Rooms a little small. Lacking a table/chairs for dining. Have to resort to having meals on bed. More power points would be handy for charging devices etc. Need a drying rack for dishes.

The apartment is located right next door to a Harley Davidson store which isn't ideal. Few early wake up calls but can be dealt with.

Overall a great stay and would recommend. Good value for money

Checked in on saturday. The night bar opposite the street was terrible!!!! The loud music and noise made me crazy! And you also can hear the noise of cars and motocycles from elizabeth st whole night! If you wanna a good sleep, have to check which side of your room locates when booking, or keep away from here!

We have just finished a 6 day stay at City edge on Elizabeth, in Melbourne. The room we booked was suppose to be a one bedroom apartment what we got was a lot more like a studio room that was not 4 star rated more like 3 or 2 and a half. The bed was in the same room as the lounge and you had to step around the bed to get to the kitchen. It took us 2 days to find the power point in the kitchen as it was behind the cupboard and you had to use a power board as the kettle couldn't reach the power point. There was not a information book in the room, so guests were leaving their rubbish outside their doors, some rubbish sat there for 3 days then another half a day in front of the lifts, by then the lift foyer had about 6 bags of rubbish just laying around. The bedding sheets and doona were both badly stained and looked like they hadn't been changed. The doona was so stained and soiled that we used the blanket in the cupboard. The room had been cleaned but not very well. The photo of the bed in the one room apartment on their web site let me to believe that is what we would be getting the photo is very misleading. In saying all this the male staff at reception tried his best to be helpful and said to come back on day 2 and see if they could move us to a different room. Will not be staying there again not budget for the price or 4 star rating.

Good value
Small rooms but good amenities
Room looking a bit tired ( marks on wall, broken blinds) but clean and comfortable
A light bulb in the lamp would have been nice

Stayed 3 nights is this budget apartment.

Close to city centre but as teh name implies, it on the edge of the city so don't expect bright lights and fancy restuarants nearby.

Despite saying this, the rooms were comfortable and functional combined with the budget prices and location, you can't really fault these apartments , excpt maybe the use if bright red in the decor. Each to his own but would stay here again if saving $'s was a concern, but still getting good value for money.

No resturant attached but basic cooking facilities in apartment but like all these small self contained city apartments, it's advisable to limit "the cooking" to boiling water(tea/coffee), cereal and what you have in the fridge and eat out or bring in.

Room Tip: Select a room away, high up and away from front street and side lane as garbage trucks visit early m...

I'm here in Melbourne for work and am extremely disappointed in this place because it makes you work. First of all I arrive at 5:30 and there's a sign on the door saying "back in 5 minutes". How useful is that! Eventually I get in and here goes the story. There's no battery in the remote, have to go to reception. TV still doesn't work, back to reception. "Sorry, TV's not working today". Why didn't he say so before. Room is stuffy and too hot, have to go to reception and ask them to open the window. Mouldy shower, dirty bathroom, no rubbish bin in bathroom, no power point in bathroom. Greasy handprints everywhere. Dirty laundry area where people had to shave because there is a power point in there. Stains on the furniture and clearly no effort to vacuum after people leave. Stains on the bed decoration runner thing, looks like its never seen a washing machine. Really, really mingy towels and no hand towels. I'm not finished yet. The TV after two days is still not working and remarkably I am offered the chance to move. Will it be worth it I ask - I'll give it a go. Up to the fourth floor, well here we go. The fridge has a broken door shelf so I have to remove a tray to enable an opened bottle of wine to fit. The furniture once moved to my satisfaction shows up years of grime, dirt, dust, you name it underneath. The supplied vacuum cleaner defies it's function and just pushes the dirt around. The towel rail is stuffed. There's no light globe in the standard lamp. The heater in the bedroom is 12 cm from the bed - how is that of any use? Maybe they want the joint to burn down. It's slightly better than the last room but gee, am I asking too much for a $125 a night (that's the 5+ night rate mind you, more for just one night). There's an empty bottle of Famous Grouse in the cupboard and in the bathroom there's somebody's toilette products, including a body scrubber and a used face sponge. Does the manager think these things might be useful to me?

So my point is, I am looking for a place where I can come back to after a day's work in the big smoke and just relax and I just can't do that here. Clearly the people who own this place are interested in the biggest margin they can get because there's no emphasis on cleaning, maintenance or repairs. So the message I'm sending is, if you are looking for a comfortable, clean, well maintained accommodation look elsewhere and maybe be prepared to pay a bit more. I know that's what I'll be doing next time. I will never come back here, it's just too much work.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else and if you really want to be here definitely don't get a studio room. I am in...
