“Beautiful Building!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2014 NEW

Easy to get to, free and a nice way to pass an hour or two in the afternoon. Great free exhibits and beautiful architecture. I would definatley recommend! I don't believe there is a fiction/children section (just a heads up for families).

“Beautiful place !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2014 NEW

Outside as inside, the Victoria state library is a very beautiful place. You can get in however and quite whenever you want. You can also have a free access to the Internet, which can be useful while you are traveling around. You can get in for free and you can have some tours guided for free too. The place is very amazing, it is a huge and old library. It offers a paid exhibition and a free one at the second floor.

“Great Place to Visit and Study”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2014 NEW

If you're visiting Melbourne, then don't forget to visit this astonishing place. A unique library with magnificent architecture and beautiful design inside and out. It's also a great place to study in the fabulous La Trobe reading room. Also there plenty of exhibitions held in this place, so overall it's a must-visit attraction.

Don't go to Melbourne without viewing the LaTrobe Reading Room from the 5th floor - it is without doubt one of the best sights you will see in Melbourne.

“Wonderful Library”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2014

A wide variety of exhibits, like Roman art, in addition to books. Wonderful Australia resources, offering talks, workshops and more, but be sure to check before you make a special trip there--when we went, the whole top floor was sealed off for a meeting, so several of the things we went to see weren't available. We had been there the day before but were short on time so decided to go back. There was no notice of the next day's meeting.
