I'm no art lover, but this Hotel is amongst my favourites in Australia as it is very warm and welcoming. Decor is great, rooms are immaculate and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Very accessible to the city and other attractions.

We this week tried the Blackman art series hotel. Lots of good art work colourful & bright. Reception was busy had to wait to checkin but that happens.
The room: well it was 38 degrees outside and when I opened the door to the room about the same inside turned the aircon on low and max speed was like an old man blowing thru a straw!
Bedroom is inside a concrete bunker with a curtain as a door with NO airflow or aircon vent. Bathroom still a 1 person room. Lounge area very good nice tv and good selection of channels.
TV in bedroom was turned of on roof (It was stuck up high in the corner of the bunker) had to get the maintenance guy to fix as just turning power back doesn't fix it. Then it flashes and is bright even when off so if you need a dark room turn off on the roof. Went for dinner 4 hours later with aircon still flatout on low the bunker was still hot. Maybe in winter would be cold?
did i mention you needed all the lights on in the middle of the day. it was a dark room.

Beautifully designed quirky hotel with great service and brilliant rooms. We had a lovely suite with a small balcony. Room was absolutely spotless and the decor is just great and made us smile all the time. Location is good - short tram journey into city - so for us Brits on holiday it was great. We stayed three nights and will definitely stay again when we return. Small Italian restaurant at the front of hotel was great - food was superb with good service. Depot du Pain was lovely we had breakfast there everyday and the bread is to die for...service was excellent.Very friendly and helpful.Loved it! Also learnt a lot about Australian artists...thank you

The Blackman is probably the best hotel in Melbourne. Fantastic location on St Kilda Rd, easy access to public transport, really cool and funky rooms, great food in the cafe and restaurant and the staff are very good.
Prompt service, very friendly and accommodating. The staff upgraded us to a bay suite which had fantastic views overlooking Albert Park and the bay. Great views!
The rooms were modern and very well furnished. The beds are incredible!! So comfortable and you can even buy them!
The staff are quite aware of the local areas and recommend some really good places to eat and cool bars. The restaurants in the hotel are nice as well! Try the egg and bacon rolls in Fluer! Do it!
