“The personal touch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

I contacted Dominic to arrange to get a gift voucher as a wedding gift. Since I live in Scotland I could not go along and pick it up so was depending on a lot of help. He gave unbelievable service. He will organise the delivery of the voucher in a suitably weddingy card on the date which I will specify. He took the time also to reply at more length than I would ever have expected. The only down side to the whole thing is that I cannot go to thank him in person and enjoy what sounds like a very special dining experience. I wish Dominic and the family continued success.

“Good food but slightly on the exy side”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

This is a fine dining restaurant, the seafood platter is lovely and fresh, mains good portion with quality produce, give the bombe Alaska a miss, not great. Service good. The plain boiled pasta child size cost 25.00!!!

“Best steak ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2013 via mobile

I read the review from this website & me + my husband decided to try. It did not disappointed!!!

The staffs were nice & very helpful to give us food/wine-match recommendation. They had good attention.

The foods came quickly. We just waited for 10 mins. We ordered scotch fillet steak and swordfish. It was excellent!!!!

Definitely will come back again. We do really recommend this restaurant if you are looking for steaks n seafood.

“SSssshhh ! Remember we want to able to get a table !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

If too many people get to know about this amazing "hidden gem" in Melbourne's Moonee Ponds we will need to book a year in advance to get a table or one of the romantic booth seats. I am not going to go on about the food, read that in other reviews. In a word though, one word SENSATIONAL.
I want to let you know about the warmth. The unpretentious vibe. The understated elegance. The sublime stylish European taste. The cosy ambiance that instantly cocoons you as soon as your walk thru the doors. The decor is not overly "trendy" . It will not date in 10 years. Its classic. Split level with dark sage suede booth seating. Which would be lovely if you are looking for a romantic dinner for two. The lighting is dreamy. We were there on a rainy night which added to the atmosphere because it was so warm & cosy. Maybe fresh flowers would be a nice touch (not fake as in the ladies loo ). The owners Dominic & twin bro Anthony (who is a head chef) & his Dad who was a delight. Dressed in black, big warm smile & attended to your every request. Even on leaving he offered us an umbrella to walk to the car. As well as a smooth muscat nite cap , complementary ! It was like dining with your long lost Italian family. Their level of customer service is beyond excellent, but not smothering either. Down to earth. As Dominic tolds us, he wants his customers to know if you want to come relaxed dress is accepted here. He said "We want our customers to just come eat, relax, eat ,enjoy & if that means wearing your trackie pants, just come".No "pooncy" waiters here. You can feel the love that this family has for their new business & food of their home land. Their dedication. Devotion for success. I hope writing this promised review only helps the Escagrill families' journey to longevity as one of Melbourne's icons for brilliant provincial Italian food. If you are a discerning diner , this restaurant will live up to the highest of expectations. PS~ make sure you leave room for the Tiramusu or share with the Bom Alaska ..... heavenly experience !
