This is my second time staying at this hotel and have to say that although there was no major issues my experience this time was not as good as the first time I stayed a few years ago. The hotel is centrally located near trams / trains / shopping so no complaints there. It's also quite close to Degraves Lane which contains goods cafes/restaurants (what Sydneysiders come to Melbourne looking for - Issus is highly recommended). What lets the hotel down is the housekeeping. On a few of the days the housekeeping was just barely satisfactory - towels were replaced but that was about it (bed sheets weren't even tucked in properly). Toiletries were scattered in the bath (was not like this when we left the room in the morning) and it looked like housekeeping had spent a maximum of 1 minute in the room. I don't expect luxury at this price range but there is no excuse for poor housekeeping - at any price range.
The free breakfast is ok but there's plenty of cafes around if you're after a hot breakfast with good coffee. All in all, it's still an ok Melbourne CBD hotel if you're after a hotel at $150/night but probably wouldn't pay more than that.
