“Steady sad decline”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

I have been patronising this bakery for some years . But now I can barely be bothered and really it is only the convenience factor that keeps me coming and that there are no nearby better options . As a bakery one would expect the pastry to be good . However recent disasters with a calzone and a Cornish Pasty have been the last straw . Almost unheard of for me but I really could not finish either bits of pastry . Nor were the contents very tasty either . A bacon and egg panini last week was a nightmare with almost 1 inch thick slabs of dry bread swamping the filling . Their coffees are no more than poor average , a shame as the beans are roasted on site . Serv ice can be very slow and the system of choosing a table first before ordering at the counter is very inconvenient and often ones chosen table is appropriated by the time one has finished ordering . It is all such a shame as with good direction and management the place could be a delight again as it used to be .

“Woodfire oven pizza and fantastic coffee and cake”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2012

We had the vegetarian pizza with salami ($14) which was simple but so full of flavour (and I eat a lot of pizza). I had a piccolo latte and the flavour and aroma of the house blend (a mix of about 7 or 8 single origin beans from all around the world) was fantastic. The coffee is full of body and has an inherent sweetness. We also had the clafoutis pastry ($6 - tasty creme brûlée-like) and a blueberry Danish ($4 - not great).

“Laid-back, fantastic food”

Typical but lovely cafe style food done the fancy way but not too pricey. Fantastic selection of breads and cheerful service.
