“Street art vs. graffiti”
I joined a free Melbourne Walking Tour which was conducted by Ellen @ Peek Tours and Ellen made it a point to show us two street art locations, i.e. Hosier Lane and Union Lane. Almost all of the wall space on Hosier Lane and is "decorated" (depending on how you see it) with paintings and "works of art."
Even more amazing is that the authorities have actually gazetted a few such lanes for "artistic" people to show their talent and artworks. But of course, such works of art may also be interpreted as "destroying public/private properties" though I believe that such avenues enable "artists" to express their creativity without actually damaging properties (since painting on these walls is actually permitted).
And I believe it is such "attractions" that make every city unique, apart from centuries-old churches and modern, state-of-the-art buildings :)
