“Fine dining at its best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2012 via mobile

Just what we expected. Small cottage, we were lucky to have our table for 4 in our own private room. Wine, food, service pretty much faultless. Creme brûlée wasn't fully set but it can happen... That was the only mistake and it didn't change our view at all - wonderful night. Must try it at least once

“Give this one a miss”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2012

After the review in Gourmet Traveller's annual restaurant guide I had expected more. Lovely cottage, small rooms but very easy to overhear other customers' conversations so the atmosphere was strained. Average wine list but attentive front of house staff. However, the food was a disappointment. A gruyere souffle, drowned in cheese would best be left in the 70's and a trevalla main that was so flavourless it did not get finished; coupled with an old fashioned mixed vegetable offering that just looked sad and tasted bland. Did not order dessert as the meal had already been below average. Give this one a miss - Hobart has better to offer locals and visitors alike.

“Excellent Fine Dining”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2012

The restaurant is a short taxi ride out of the central business district and located in a well preserved old house that is otherwise unassuming and not really recognizable as a restaurant from the street. The front door opens into a beautifully presented colonial interior with two or three tables in each of the rooms on the ground floor. We were there as a group of four friends and had a private room, which was fun.

The service and the food were both excellent. My pigeon entree was pink and juicy and my venison main dish simply excellent. The wine list is comprehensive and we enjoyed a couple of reasonably priced Tasmanian wines. The atmosphere was formal – you are there for dinner, not tapas - but the place is friendly and welcoming. I could easily imagine this being an excellent place for a business dinner for senior colleagues without being stuffy. I enjoyed it and so did my three companions. Great place.

“Atmosphere?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2012

The things you need to know about Lebrina: It's a bit out of the centre of Hobart, it's not cheap, and it's located in an old colonial house. This last point is quite crucial, because the interior is still divided into relatively small rooms: we were in a room with three tables of two... you have the feeling that you need to speak quietly and be on your best behaviour. This, for me, put a bit of a dampener on the atmosphere. However, the quality and presentation of the food are both good. For two people (two entrees, two mains, a shared dessert, and a couple of glasses of local wine) our bill was significantly over $200. All in all, a slightly mixed experience: well-prepared and tasty food, and a "too quiet" atmosphere.

Exquisite dinning. Silver service and phenomenal food. Definitely an experience, it's a must at least once in your life. You won't ever leave not feeling full.
