“Do NOT stay here!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

Those of you thinking that you are booking a room at a classy, rustic hotel should reconsider immediately. The location and the pub downstairs are about the only good things this place has going for it. The bathrooms (unisex!!) are disgusting and dirty, obviously not being cleaned regularly (clumps of hair on the floor, bandaid stuck to shower wall, shower tap handles falling off, dirty sinks...) The list goes on. Don't even get me started on the loud courtyward out the back, and the 11PM "curfew". There is noise all around, whether it be the rowdy boozers out the back with the music blaring, the pub downstairs, the ancient plumbing system, the creaky beds, or the drunk party-goers stomping stumbling up the stairs at 3am unaware that there are people trying to get rest. I have stayed in loads of backpackers around the world, but this is without a a doubt one of the worst. If it is a good night's sleep you are looking for, then look elsewhere.

Sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay. We have put in place procedures to ensure that the 11pm curfew in the common area is enforced as this was identified as an issue over the summer. Our bathrooms and showers are also now cleaned twice daily. We do have some old plumbing and that goes hand in hand with a venue as old as ours. It is something that we are constantly monitoring and trying to improve where we can.
Good to hear that you enjoyed the pub downstairs. Thank you for your feedback.

Definitly a Good opotunity to stay in Hobart.
The kittchen is a bit small but the cord yard is really nice to chill. And it has an own bar;)
The rooms are clean, a bit less bathrooms but u have the opportunity to take a bath!
Location is really good, right in the centre of Hobart

We have a few bathroms and showers tucked around corners, not sure if you found them. We will improve our signage so that they are easier to find.
Great that you enjoyed your stay with us, thank you for your feedback and we hope to see you again soon.

Beautiful and popular groovy old style pub. Very friendly staff.
Rooms were clean and cosy. Real nice and huge common area outside and another inside lounge area, well-equipped kitchen with heaps of fridge space.
Convenient location, opposite shopping centre and within 5-10 minutes walk to the wharf and only 10-15 minutes walk from Salamanca.
Great place, highly recommended!

This place has tired carpets and budget rooms are up a narrow staircase. Lots of noise drifts up from the rowdy folks partying in the alleyway on the side of the hotel. The airport bus does NOT stop here (despite what the Visitors' Centre folks say) but will stop around the corner on Argyle Street. No parking available, so not good if you arrive in a owned or hired car. A bit on the expensive side for what's offered, but the value is in being in a central location.

Room Tip: Try to get a room that isn't overlooking the alleyway!

Thank you for your feedback. Sorry that you do not feel you recieved value for money.
We will look at how to better manage the noise from our bar and restaurant patrons.
You are right in that we are a budget hotel in the heart of the Hobart CBD.
Street parking is free after 6pm and Hobart's largest city carpark is directly across the road.
The airport shuttle drops off here at the hotel on Liverpool St coming from the airport and picks up just 50m down the road on the corener of Liverpool and Argyle sts heading to the airport.
Once again thatnk you for your feedback.

Came to stay with 6 friends for four nights. For the price i was really surprised how comfortable and well laid out the place was. The huge kitchen was a lifesaver also, and came in really handy. Nice staff and a good atmosphere throughout the place. The location is great, next to supermarkets and 5 min walk to the harbour. Overall a pleasantly surprising stay!
