Owner description: Louisa's Walk is a piece of Strolling Theatre or Walking Play that takes you on a journey into the life of Louisa Ragan, an Irish convict, sent to Van Diemen's Land on a seven year sentence, in 1841, for stealing a loaf of bread. You walk with the actors as they tell Louisa's story. You will meet Louisa outside the famous Cascade Brewery building in South Hobart. You will walk through the beautiful Cascade Gardens along to the World Heritage listed Cascades Female Factory Historic Site where Louisa was imprisoned. Once you enter those locked gates, they are shut behind you and you experience life in this harsh prison. You may laugh and you may cry but you will remember Louisa's story!

“Like going to an interesting interactive museum without the boring bits!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

We went along merely because we had some time to spare before our flight, we'd looked at trip advisor and seen that Louisa's walk had excellent reviews but we'd got the impression they'd all been written by 'old' people and therefore it wouldn't suit our 'young' minds (28-30yr olds). Within ten minutes of the walk starting, we were all hooked. The acting is brilliant, and they tell such an interesting story but cleverly incorporate masses of information regarding what it was like for female convicts shipped out to Australia. The two hours passed by very quickly and we were all eft wanting more which was a complete turnaround to how we thought we'd be! Would definitely recommended, to all ages!

“Brilliant - must see”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

After leaving Hobart this was the thing I was telling everyone about! A captivating journey back in time to the convict era, the actors were brilliant, the historical detail was fabulous, and it was an amazing insight into what life would've been like back in the day. Highly recommend.

“Great walk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

The actors played their roles well, and it was good to hear of the history of female convicts told in the dialect of the time, who were incarcerated in the Female factory. The walk was easy, and enjoyed by all who went.

“A must see for every visitor to Hobart”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

Judith and Chris are passionate about telling the story of women transported to the Female Factory. To witness history walking and talking is the BEST way to understand and relate to their story. I had more than a tear or two during the two hour 'play'. Absolutely wonderful

“Absolutely my favorite event in Hobart!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

Back almost two years ago when we first began to plan our long awaited trip to New Zealand & Australia I happened upon an article about Louisa'a Walk in Hobart Tasmania. I knew right away that we would make it a point to book.

Fast forward to March 2013 and yesterday we went on Louisa'a Walk. The dedication and passion that the originators of Louisa's Walk have put into their art is fantastic. Yes this story is real, is based on a real person, and tells a true story in a way that will grab you.

This is a combination of dramatic acting, history, and is a story that will draw you in.

This is best favorite thing I did in Hobart, Tasmania. Judith and Chris are very real in their performance.
