“No single malt here :(”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

Decided to drop in for a Tasmania single malt experience but no drink here. If you want the sherry style don't bother going here. When I asked why the staff lady said "we're not serving that style, we don' have any left, but you can buy a bottle if you want" Disappointed and went back to the Nant cellar door and had a couple there. It was very nice!

“Popped in for a taster.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013 via mobile

Staff very informative and heaps of whiskey to choose from plus a few beers to fit every ones taste. Saw a few cheese plates go out and look very nice but we had just eaten. If you love whiskey it is a must for any one in Hobart. Go do it.

“Worth A Special Trip to Tassie”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

This is one of the best ways to spend a day (or up to four days) in Tasmania. The one day tour is wonderful and starts with special coffee and baked goods at the bar in Hobart and then a quick trip to the distillery itself. Be sure to take a moment to wish Islay and Peat (two miniature Highland Cattle that live as neighbors to the distillery) a good morning. Your day will begin with the "mashing in", the very first step in the creation of one the world's finest Single Malt Whisky's. You will taste the whisky at each stage so you can see when each of the wonderful hints of flavour become apparent. If you take the four day tour, you will even get to go to the cottage in central Tasmania that is on a lake filled with trout near the peat bog that is owned by the distillery. Mark Nicholson who will be your guide gives you a full history of Tasmania, its wine industry's many failures (think Blackbirds) and final success, and accompanies you to a delightful lunch at a winery that overlooks the distillery. After a wonderful day you will return to sit by the fire in the bar in Hobart and taste the delightful range of Lark's distilled spirits including Tassie, an eau de vie distilled from a berry found only in Tasmania. Bill Lark is committed to excellence in everything that he does, he produces a single Malt that has won gold medals around the world and has the very best distillery tour of all. He even has created an option where you can create your own cask of single malt that he will age, and bottle for you, a treat no other distiller offers.
