Stayed at the Astor for a week, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The host, Tildy, makes you feel very welcome and her offbeat nature keeps you on your toes when passing through the lobby on your way into or out of the building! The room was really good value, the hotel is pretty quiet and has a lot of "old world charm". A lot of the rooms have recently been renovated, or are currently in the process of being renovated, and can thoroughly recommend either the single rooms with a shared bathroom, or the queen room with ensuite as have stayed in both. Would come back again at the drop of a hat as the hotel is ideally suited, only a 5 min walk to Salamanca and to the city, and there are some parking spots at the back of the hotel for those that need them. Breakfast is pretty basic, but all you need really (tea/coffee/juice, toast, cereal & fruit). Is certainly an older hotel, but any negatives on the lack of newer fittings etc are more than made up for by the "homely" feel of the place and the character of the owner.
