“A Saturday pleasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

When you live in the area there's not much to like about Salamanca. There are always plenty of new stalls, lots of old favorites and coffee to be had. It's the atmosphere. Lots of people wandering around at their leisure enjoying the banter from stall holders and purchasing little treasures. Weather can either add or detract from your experience however in in the worst weather you can grab hot food and drinks. There is a park nearby for children to have a run around.

“A slice of history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

My advice is to get right amongst the hustle and bustle of the market. It is a delight for all your senses. The smell of bratwurst and onion is tempting, the stalls have a large variety bright eye catching goods and the regular buskers make it an enjoyable experience. Don't forget to look behind the stalls to catch a glimpse of the beautiful historical buildings that make up Salamanca. Make sure you keep Saturday morning free to enjoy this lively market.

“Bright, fun, interesting, great shopping and food.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2013

I took a day trip to Salamanca maret from Melbourne because I love this market so much. (It's easy, just an early morning flight away). I had planned it for late November to do some interesting and quirky Christmas shopping. Alas, it was raining all day (go figure in November?) so this did impact on the number of stalls. I estimate only about 70% of stalls perservered through the rain. Luckily they did as it still got very crowded by lunchtime. Sadly two of my favourites were not there: the pancake lady (fantastic gluten free pancakes) and the hand made card lady. But there was plenty to buy, try, eat etc. One of the stalls has gluten free single quiches at a bargain price of $8 for a three pack!!! Make sure you try the cheese, fudge , jams and chutneys - yum. And get any collectables / antiques early. They sell fast.

“Great place filled with cafes and restaurants”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2013

We missed going there on a Saturday morning which is supposed to be the best time to go there. Also, it was raining when we were there, so there wasn't much crowd, but there are tons of shop and restaurants to eat and just walk around. Nice place to visit!

an easy way to sample and see a variety of Tasmanian products from timber, lavender, wine, whisky, chocolate, fudge and delicious relishes to makeup, clothes, books and pictures - and plenty more. Local craft, art and eating establishments also open. Easy way to spend money.
