I've been to Tasmania 3 times and have always timed it in such a way that I am in Hobart on Saturdays, so I could visit the Salamanca Market. It has a great atmosphere and vibe that makes you want to be there, hang around, get some food from the stalls and eat on the curbside or along the way as you stroll. The scallop pie is a must try. It's less/or not curried as compared to the other scallop pies commonly found in Tasmania and it's filled with scallops! You'll find all kinds of stalls, ranging from woodwork, craft, home made food or fresh produce. A lovely place for families.
