“Tired Top Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I were upgraded to an Oriental Suite on arrival which was a lovely surprise. The room was especially spacious with a large SOK overflowing spa...which we didn't get to try btw. The reception greeting and bellboys, restaurant staff was exceptional. The room however is in need of some maintenance. Spa bath had cracks, chips and staining. Shower had mould and rust, even the sink plug was mouldy...not good enough in my estimation for a top of the range hotel. With only Venetian blinds as window treatments it was difficult to get off to sleep as too much light was coming through the windows- this was during the Wooden Boat Festival- these blinds also need repairing and the windows need a clean.
Apart from maintenance the hotel is worthy of another chance.

This hotel was built on the site of an old jam factory with conversion into loft style units. It is in a great location, walking distance to the Salamanca market, downtown and aquatics center. The staff were all very helpful, attentive and knowledgable. Unfortunately I was not able to make it to Port Arthur while in Hobart. I will have to return someday to go there.

This was a lovely hotel. We are very kindly upgraded and our room was large with a stunning bathroom. The location was good. We did not eat in the hotel as the prices were high. There are plenty of places to Eat within walking distance of the hotel. This only missed a top rating due to the building work going on, in and around the hotel.

As a wedding gift we were given accommodation at the Henry Jones for the night before and the night of our wedding. From the moment I arrived the staff went above and beyond to make sure our stay was memorable! I stayed in a harbor view spa room and the Hotel had organized for me to have the largest room available as I had 4 bridesmaids, 2 hairdressers and 1 make up artist coming to get ready the next day. The room was absolutely amazing and the size of an apartment! The views were great and the bathroom was just fantastic with a beautiful and large spa bath and huge shower. On the morning of my wedding when I went for breakfast and the staff knew it was my wedding day and organized a complimentary breakfast which they also did the next morning for my husband and I! The food at breakfast was lovely. I also really liked the complimentary valet parking as most places charge for this and due to the location it's hard to get parking! Overall we had a fantastic stay, the staff were just wonderful and we will definitely be returning! What a great wedding gift!

A night stay in a room with no view was still a fabulous experience. Staff great, polite and helpful. Loved the history of the hotel and the way they held onto the old charm by highlighting it with the modern. Very clever. Great location, great coffee bars. A must visit if you have a few extra dollars to spend. It is worth it!

We had a great weekend in this hotel. Comfortable and spacious room with harbour view, friendly and helpful staff. Good location. Very quiet. Looks industrial and dull on the outside but the room itself had cozy country house feel to it. The only thing i didn't like as much was the half-see-through frosted glass bathroom walls, I would have preferred real walls.
