“Very bad stay”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

We chose the hotel due to close proximity to hire cars...this I give 10 out of 10 ...the breakfast was good but then it all goes downhill.
No bedside cabinets
No bedside lamps
No tissues
No elevator
No safe access in front of and on the side of bed
Unsafe wires hanging from the wall
Very noisy - no carpet in hall just echoing

Room Tip: Don't stay here

Have stayed here once before a number of years ago and both times in a compact room. The room consists of one kingsize bed, a desk/shelf, a wardrobe, a fridge, kettle, bedside table, heat pump A/C, bathroom marble, big vanity unit, small shower and toilet. Coffee/tea supplied, soap toiletries supplied, 3 toilet rolls face washer bath mat and towels.Lighting in room not brillant, bed bigger than expected comfortable and warm, breakfast toast, juice and cereals are supplied but did not go downstairs as was not hungry. The room was clean and tidy no windows only glass bricks with blind to shut out light. Noise from other rooms was audible especially in the morning but I had to say it was extremely quiet of a night. We scored free parking right out front, owner was very helpful on checkin. Man who was there sat night had curry cooking which smelt beautiful when you used to live in an apartment block of indian students you get used to that smell. Other reviews saying they wouldnt leave their dogs here are over the top with their comments it is a good place to stay centrally located, cheap $79 per night have certainly stayed in a lot worse thats for sure.

Room Tip: Had room 102 at the back of building above kitchen

As other reviewers have noted the negatives are: no lifts, noise carries, even the front door slamming, noise from the pub next door, small rooms (bathroom door hits the bed) and very basic breakfast. However, onto positives, good location, parking free after 6pm Mon -Fri and 4pm Sundays, just get up early to go sightseeing and move the car. Very comfortable beds, air con, good quality linens and 42 inch Samsung flatscreen in room. Fridge, kettle, plates, cups and washing up liquid. Advertised as luxury accommodation. That description is slightly pushing it a bit. Paid 100 for the Easter weekend and then 79 for non peak weekend rate.

Room Tip: Bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper and an eye mask as the room's blinds are not v effect...

My usual favourite was fully booked and made this booking in a hurry, just needed somewhere to stay. It was just terrible. The room was cold, tiny, noisy and smelt bad. The breakfast was very basic. Never, ever again.

Receptionist was very welcoming but it didn't make up for the room being tiny and having no window.
For the price is was bad value, would have been ok for half the price as good location.
Wifi in reception area only and was v slow. V basic breakfast. No lift. Noisy up to midnight as noise carried up the stairwell easily. Walls v thin as could also hear man in next room snoring! Like I say, fine if half the price but not as it is...

I agree with the others it must be the worst hotel in Hobart, I'm sorry I didn't read the reviews first. service is terrible, no lifts, had to drag luggage up two flights of stairs. The room was like a shoebox and just plain ugly. Breakfast was bad!. A choice of only wholemeal toast or basic cereals with lukewarm longlife skim milk. Tables had been preset and they didn't even get cleared after people had left. We went back downstairs about half hour after we had eaten and our plates and at least one dirty setting was still left on each table. The owner/managers were just hanging around the reception area. Also there is only 1 hour meter parking out front or 3 hour meter parking around the corner.

Rooms have no windows at all . Air is through internal vet from kitchen.
Door has no internal locks. It is a fire disaster waiting to happen . Only one SET stairs in building . no escape map on doors.Breakfast COULD NOT POSSIBLY BE MORE BASIC.
Internet only works in reception area.very expensive for 1 star hotel.

Room Tip: must ask for only room with open window =will cost over $140
