“Corinda's Cottages”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013

An excellent accommodation in Hobart. After staying in all sorts of hotels all year round the hotel rooms have merged into one generic hotel room in my memory. I really can’t remember which room in which city I slept in. That can’t happen in Corinda’s cottages, the rooms, the décor, are unique. And while you could feel transported into another time there are still all the modern comforts, heating, Wi-Fi, etc.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

We spent 3 nights in The Coach House. It is very pretty, newly painted, quirky accommodation overflowing with antiques and ornaments. Wilmar brought fresh flowers every day and there were good breakfast provisions. However, it wasn’t a comfortable place to stay. Everything looked very fragile so we didn’t want to touch anything in case it broke. The ceilings are low upstairs and the bed squeaked; the stairs were slippery and poorly lit. The accommodation was long, narrow and dark and, with the shutters, which we had to keep closed as we were overlooked on every side, it was even darker. There was nowhere to put our luggage so we just left it in the middle of the living room floor. It was nice having laundry facilities but the washing machine kept blowing the fuses. There were ants in the bathroom and the bathroom taps were in an awkward position and were difficult to turn off. Parking wasn’t easy and we had to move plant pots around to try to fit the car in. Also, with folding wooden doors facing the road we were disturbed by noise from traffic, pedestrians and the tennis courts opposite.

Walking into and out of the town could be a problem for some guests because of the steep hill.

Room Tip: We would not recommend the Coach House but can't comment on the other accommodation.

Corinda's cottages are a great base for a few days in Hobart. Self catering but an easy stroll downhill into town through a nice park. Interesting historic feel but all mod cons and a great garden. No Aircon so a bit sticky on balmy summer evenings but it was great to have the good weather. Definitely a good place to aim at if you are looking for a bit of character not run of the mill modern hotel.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The owners had everything we needed all ready for us. We had asked for an extra bed, and it was all made up when we arrived. The bathroom was incredibly nice, with great towels and bath amenities. The kitchen was fully equipped, we even cooked and ate in one night. Now, this all sounds about right for a nice hotel, right? Well, this was a historic and authentically furnished cottage, with a beautiful garden, on a quiet street in Hobart. It is a very clever renovation and the result is the perfect blend of historic furnishings and comfort? We would absolutely stay here again.

We stayed a magic three nights in the 'Little One', (Two on Two). And although it's really little, it is so well planned and executed that you never feel cramped - despite a vibrant colour scheme that if described would sound quite overwhelming.
Have a look at the website for the colours and features; in this space I couldn't begin to do the Little One justice.
We had the full run of the garden area (including the garden of the big house next door) and everything you could possibly wish for in the unit itself, even 'mood' lighting, a lamp made out of a huge tree trunk and the peak of Mt Wellington peering in the side window.
We are looking forward to our next trip 'downunder' and this is where we will be staying.

Tastfully restored with obvious pride and passion. The owners have thought of everything to ensure a relaxing and pampered stay. We stayed in the servants quarters and it was warm, clean and well equipped with modern conveniences, cleverly hidden from sight so as not to take anything away from the integrity of the rerstorations.

We spent 3 nights in the Coach House in November and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owners have done a fine job of renovating the buildings and filling them with antiques and bric- a-brac. Great shower in the bathroom but worth noting that the bedroom is on the first floor whilst the bathroom is on the ground floor, not so good if you need the loo during the night! The gardens are lovely and tranquil and enjoyable to explore. Good location from which you can walk into centre of Hobart for shops and dinner.
