“What a find in Central Hobart”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2014

We stayed two nights at The Elms, but could have stayed a week!!. Tina and Raymond are great hosts, they can't do enough to make your stay perfect. The building is beautiful and the interior makes you feel like you're in an old English stately house. The grounds are also lovely. Tina made sure my diet restrictions were very well catered for and they do the best boiled eggs we've had in ages. The location is perfect, with a wide variety of restaurants within a very short walk. Congratulations Tina and Raymond.

Our stay at The Elms of Hobart was very pleasant and we would recommended it to an visitor.
The facilities were excellent and Tina and Raymond where perfect hosts. Close to eatery's and of course an easy downhill walk to the Salamanca Markets. We came home after the markets by trike, what a ride that was.

The Elms of Hobart is a lovely, clean and comfortable heritage home within walking distance of Hobart CBD, with a beautiful garden which our hosts offered to show us around. The room was comfortable and quiet and included a delicious and broad selection of breakfast options. Whilst we tried to maintain the comfort of other guests during our stay by closing the dining room door to play some music, the hosts firmly prefer the door stayed open so we turned our music off.
Beware of the shower's hot water!!
One needs the finesse of a watchmaker to keep the temperature from swinging between skin burning heat to hypothermia-inducing cold. Overall, a comfortable stay with plenty of space to relax.

Room Tip: Its more convenient to stay in a downstairs room as the upper house and stairs echoes quite a lot. T...

The hosts are very hospitable and helpful. It has a beatiful garden and very considerate complimentary offerings. The location is close to restaurants, bars and shops. The comfortable sitting room is a great place to make new friends.

Room Tip: A room with garden view would be nice.

We have stayed here before and will probably stay many more times. Good walking distance to the café/restaurant end of Elizabeth Street with loads of varied choices of menu. Parking available, so the 'out of central city' location is not a problem; buses also close to door. The staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful. The rooms were spotless. The beautiful. and huge, garden makes it feel like a real haven - lovely to wake up to such a pleasant view.

The Elms is a lovely, well maintained, period home with all the necessary updates for a comfortable stay. There were great restaurants and shops just down the road and it was easy to get in and out of Hobart from the property. The roses in the garden were fantastic! Our hosts were friendly and accommodating about my husband's dietary needs.

Its a bit of a walk to Salamanca and the city centre but very quiet here at night. Best coffee and al fresco dining at the Rain Check Cafe down Elizabeth Street. Great bookshop attached to the National Theatre in Elizabeth street. A walk around the Mount Stuart area on the leafy streets reveals some beautiful houses from the Federation era and earlier from which the historic Elms itself belongs.
Great place to stay and unwind. Highly recommend.
