“Reliable, Good value and variety”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

Banjos offers a reliable and economical option for pies, bakery goods and a range of bread products. A very good option for little people, easy seating and not fussy about crumbs on the floor. Pies are yummy and their coffee and hot chocolate very reasonable. The Salamanca cafe has warm indoor seating or outdoors for sunny weather. Staff always seem helpful and look out for their 4 for $10 cake specials!

“A Local Bakery with Fresh, Delicious Food & Good Coffee!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

Take a break at this little bakery in the square behind the main street in Salamanca. They have great bread, sandwiches, cakes and an excellent range of delicious pies. They also have special deals to save your cash. This is a great place to have morning/afternoon tea or a light lunch. Support the locals, save money, sit down & rest and have a yummy treat! This place has it all! Have fun!

“Hearty fare”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

Ordered the breakfast with the lot. Bacon, egg, tomato, mushrooms, toast and the yummiest tomato relish I have ever tasted. Very hearty serving.

Attendant was enthusiastic and polite, coffee was made quickly and served to perfection.

Eggs were ordered poached but came To the table scrambled, cook was more than eager to replace and beautifully cooked poached eggs returned swiftly.

Overall very enjoyable.

“Brunch a licious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2012

Beautiful breakfasts, great service. Not fancy, but good value for money. The building was beautiful - old bricks and stones and retained the history of the Hobart waterfront beautifully.

“A gourmet quickie!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2012

You may well stumble upon this place if the bargain hunting at Salamanca Market all gets too much and the cafes along the eponymous lane are bursting with patrons. Fear not, for here lunch will be quick, cheap and tasty. The rolls and sandwiches are fresh and generously filled and there are is all manner of freshly baked sweet items also. Seating is available both out and indoors and the atmosphere is lively. The chicken baguette is particularly tasty, as are the strawberry and cream cheese muffins, but the standout is (surprisingly) the coffee; bold, strong and, triumphantly, with no bitter aftertaste. If you time your visit in the late afternoon (near closing time), they literally give things away; any 5 items for $10. If you can find somewhere to store them, you will have your lunch taken care of for the next day. A good choice for a good, cheap breakfast or lunch, or even just a coffee.
