“One night in Hobart”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

The location of this backpackers is awesome, right in the centre. Only a few meters away from the shops, restaurants and all facilities. There is free wifi, which is very enjoyable. Unfortunately we couldn't get it from our room. The kitchen and bathrooms were clean and the place pretty quiet. The only negative thing that I could mention is the stairs, if you get heavy luggages with you just bet ready to carry them.

I have stayed at this backpackers many times over the years before the present owners took over. The only reason to stay there previously was its location. The new owners have made some significant improvements and I would be happy to return again. My only gripe is the $100 per head (for groups over 6) security deposit.

Room Tip: Select one on the lowest level, there is no lift.

I've stayed long term at the Imperial for the past 12 months between hiking trips, and couldn't ask for more in a hostel. Efficient staff, great rooms and facilities, lots of character, it's kept very clean, and you'll never find beds this good in a hostel ever again. The location couldn't be more central or more convenient.

My friend and I stayed at the Imperial backpackers for 6 days and let me tell you, it was an experience.
The kitchen was very clean. The rooms and the beds were clean too. The wooden floors were a bit creaky but you have to let go off that since the location is the biggest benefit.
The staff at the backpackers helped us with places to go and food to eat around in Hobart. They also have the weekly events all mentioned on the chalkboard. You can walk to the tourist information centre for any further information. The people at the backpackers are friendly and warm. There is no food provided but you can shop for the groceries from woolworths and cook a great meal. The kitchen is loaded with equipments and stoves and microwaves. The bedsheets are changed everyday. The bathroom is clean as well.
Overall, a good place for solo or small groups of backpackers.
You can always find your way back to the backpackers.
We loved it!

And by that title, I really meant it. I had a good night's sleep because that's the best beds I have ever seen so far from a backpackers hotel. They got a relatively HUGE common area which I didn't have time to really use, and good toilets to serve its purpose. Though I think the toilets can be more in terms of quantity. Only 2 showers and 2 WC to accomodate such a huge family of backpackers there!

Interesting layout exiting and entering from the backdoor after 10PM. Though the noise through the windows from the streets below can actually be heard from the room we were staying at. Good, clean, friendly staff, all the more to actually come back for another night! :)

Not much of a parking space if you are driving there at Hobart. Maybe they could actually tell the backpackers or whoever staying there where would be the suitable place to park before coming. We had to go a few rounds to actually get a decent parking spot right outside the hotel itself. All the shops were within walking distance, which it's a super plus point!

The hotel could use some upgrades but overall it was a pleasant one night stay. :)

I'm now in this backpacker for 3 months in a single room.
The staff is really friendly.

I found everything I needed, fully equiped kitchen, laundery, awesome bed, 2 big rooms for chilling and relaxing with tv and great couches.

Bed linen are changed one time a week, bathrooms and kitchen cleaned every days.

The location is perfect, just 100m from all shops in the hyper center of Hobart, less than 10 min walk to Salamanca.

Of course it's not clean like in an hostel because there is a lot of people and some are not respectfull, but so far this is the most clean Backpacker in which I ever sleep.

Most of the time after 11pm there is not a single noise.
